Happy World PT Day! ๐๐ฉโโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ๐๏ธโโ๏ธ
Did you know that 1 in 4 people get diagnosed with stroke? And every year, 20.5 million people's lives are claimed by cardiovascular diseases? Stroke and heart diseases are two of the most common conditions that when diagnosed with, affect your quality of life and cause long-term limitations.
Physiotherapists are equipped to prescribe proper interventions to lower risk of heart disease. Cardiac rehabilitation includes early identification of risk for heart disease, exercise prescription, promotion of physical activity and client education. Proper adherence to the intervention plan causes physical activity levels to increase thus lowering the risk of heart disease.
People often have issues with their balance, using both arms or just moving independently with ease following a stroke. Physiotherapists can help by improving mobility and function to increase independence, prevent falls and prevent a secondary stroke to occur. This allows the client to slowly return to their routines and prevent long term care needs.
