The Magic of the In Between 🌊

I’ve been home for three days now after ten days away, but part of me is still standing on the shoreline.

I can still smell the salt air and the Forest, hear the waves moving with the tide, and feel that deep sense of peace that comes from being fully present in a place.

There is something magical about the places where two worlds meet.

Where the St. Lawrence River slowly becomes the Ocean.
Where the Forest reaches toward the shoreline.
Where the tide is constantly reshaping the boundary between Land and Water.

These places exist in between.

They are spaces of transition, movement, and possibility.

A reminder that we don’t always need to rush toward the next thing. Sometimes the most restorative moments are found in the pause — the space between what was and what is becoming.

During our time away, we lived by the rhythm of Nature rather than the clock. We woke with the sun, slept beneath the stars, explored new places, and spent days with almost no connection to the outside world.

Slowly, something shifted.

I found myself listening more deeply.

To the tide.
To the wind.
To the stories held in stones and beach glass.
To the laughter of my family.

Perhaps that is the gift of the in between.

When we step away from the constant doing, we remember that we are not separate from Nature’s rhythms — we are part of them.

I’ve shared the full reflection in this month’s Wild Wisdom newsletter, including the magic of watching beluga whales move with the tide and what these liminal spaces can teach us about slowing down.

When was the last time you just wandered. No need to know where you’re going or how to get back. No need to bring anything with you. No need to count steps or measure anything. Just time to put it all down and wander. Join me on a Forest Bathing walk or Blue Mindfulness paddling experience. Link in bio. naturetherapy

More and more people are learning about Nature therapy and would described as a wellness practice. And it is.

But I hope it never becomes the next wellness trend.

Because trends ask, “What can this do for me?” and when we reduce nature to something we use, we risk missing losing so much!

Nature Therapy asks something far more profound.

This isn’t another photography workshop.
This is a full weekend creative reclamation retreat that merges the grounding power of Nature Therapy with the artistic discipline of mindful composition, designed to cure creative malnourishment by reconnecting you with the natural world, your senses, and the photographer who never left.

What is Rooted & Captured?

Rooted & Captured is a weekend immersive retreat for women ready to reclaim creative time as non-negotiable.
You’ll leave with more than great photos. You’ll leave remembering who you were—and confident in who you’re becoming.
We guide you through a transformative weekend that uses the four elements—earth, water, fire, air—as your creative compass.

Sit Spot Club
A guided nature pause to slow down, unplug, and reset.

Sit Spot Club is a simple practice designed to help you pause, regulate your nervous system, and reconnect with nature — and yourself. Join Certified Nature Therapy Guide Claire Beach for a gentle, guided experience in nature inspired by the practice of Forest Bathing.

A “sit spot” is a place outdoors where we pause, notice, and simply spend time being present in nature — no experience required. Together, we’ll slow down through simple sensory invitations that help calm the mind, reduce stress, regulate the nervous system, and reconnect with the natural world.

This welcoming experience encourages relaxation, mindfulness, curiosity, and connection through the sights, sounds, textures, and rhythms of the living world around us. Research also shows that short, repeated moments of nature connection can be more impactful than occasional longer outings. This practice supports a sustainable rhythm of connection and care.

During our time together, you’ll be guided through gentle invitations to help you:
* slow down and unplug
* rest your mind and body
* deepen sensory awareness
* build a meaningful relationship with nature
* create a supportive habit of outdoor mindfulness

Accessible to all ages and abilities, this session is gentle, supportive, and restorative. Come as you are.

🌎💙 Join us tomorrow for a free Climate Café Listening Circle.

6:30-8:00pm Pedal Works Café & Studios

A gentle space in a changing world to listen, share, and connect with others navigating climate uncertainty.

The climate crisis can bring up all kinds of feelings.

Worry. Sadness. Anger. Confusion. Grief. Sometimes even hope.

From wildfires and droughts to floods and food insecurity, the impacts of climate change are all around us. It’s natural to feel overwhelmed by what we’re witnessing and what it might mean for the future.

While it is important to acknowledge our fears and uncertainties, it is equally important to sit in the light.

To notice the beauty that still surrounds us.
To cherish moments of awe and wonder.
To feel the warmth of the sun, the song of a bird, the rustle of leaves, the laughter of a friend.
After all, these are often the very things we are working so hard to protect.

The Climate Café Listening Circle is a gentle space to explore whatever is present for you. There is no pressure to speak, no expectation to have answers, and no agenda beyond listening and being heard.

Climate Cafés are not about debating science or policy, and they’re not about giving advice. They’re about creating connection, building understanding, and finding strength in community.

Because the truth is, none of us were meant to carry this alone.

Sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is gather together, share honestly, and remember that others are navigating these feelings too

Come as you are. Everyone is welcome.
Thanks to our sponsors, this session is FREE. We ask that each person make an average purchase of $10 at Pedal Works Cafe & Studios as gratitude for this community-first local business. Trailhead Kingston & Belleville | Outdoor Gear & Apparel
