Despite FIVE rained-out Cruise Nites this summer, the Cruisers still managed to raise more than $10,000 for Saugeen Shores Hospital Foundation!

But wait until you hear this number...

Over the years, Cruisers Cruise Nite has now donated more than $334,330 to support local healthcare.

That’s pretty incredible for a Southampton summer tradition built around great cars, great people and a community that keeps showing up.

To the Cruisers volunteers who organize it all and spend their summer evenings making it happen and the car owners who bring out the classics, the customs, the shiny ones, the loud ones and the ones that make you stop and stare, thank you.

And to all of the people who come out, stroll the streets, admire the cars, chat with friends and support the event, thank you!

Every one of you has helped turn Cruise Nite into something much bigger than a car show.

Cool cars.
Great people.

One of our favourite end-of-summer traditions is back!

For the past few years, the wonderful team at Armen’s Café has wrapped up their season by doing something pretty special: serving up a delicious dinner in support of rural healthcare.

On Saturday, September 26, Armen’s will be offering their end-of-season roast chicken dinner, complete with roasted potatoes, vegetables and coleslaw, for $24.50 + tax, with all proceeds supporting Saugeen Shores Hospital Foundation.

It’s a great meal, a great local business and a wonderful way to support local healthcare all at the same time.

Thank you to Armen and the entire team for continuing this generous tradition year after year. We are so grateful to have you in our community!

Saugeen Shores Hospital Foundation
Part-Time | 4 Days Per Week 30hrs/week

Are you the person who remembers the thing everyone else forgot? The one who keeps track of the details, gets satisfaction from a well-organized spreadsheet, notices when something needs to be followed up on and quietly makes sure things keep moving?
You might be exactly who we’re looking for.

The Saugeen Shores Hospital Foundation is looking for an Administrative Assistant to join our small, busy and very hands-on team. This is not a role where every Tuesday looks exactly like the Tuesday before it. This is a role for someone who likes being the person others can count on.

What You’ll Do
At the heart of this position is keeping the day-to-day operations of the Foundation organized, accurate and moving forward.
You’ll work closely with the Executive Director and become an important part of keeping the Foundation running smoothly.
Your responsibilities will include:
•Providing day-to-day administrative support and helping manage the many details that keep a busy Foundation office moving
•Processing incoming donations and payments accurately and efficiently
•Preparing bank deposits and completing routine banking
•Receiving and organizing invoices, preparing payments and maintaining accurate records for our external bookkeeping support
•Entering and maintaining donor information in our donor database
•Pulling weekly reports and helping us keep an eye on donor activity, follow-ups and stewardship opportunities
•Preparing letters, receipts, mailings, labels, reports and other donor communications
•Helping keep files, records, calendars, lists and internal processes organized
•Supporting annual events and taking the lead on specific pieces of event planning and coordination throughout the year.

Who We’re Looking For
You will need to be organized, dependable and comfortable taking ownership of your work.
You’re likely a great fit if you:
•Have strong administrative and organizational skills
•Are comfortable working with numbers and have some experience with invoices, payments, banking, deposits or similar financial administration
•Are confident using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook. Experience with Quickbooks an asset.
•Are comfortable learning databases and new technology
•Have excellent attention to detail and take accuracy seriously
•Can manage multiple priorities without losing track of the little things
•Are comfortable working independently and figuring out the next step
•Communicate professionally and warmly with donors, volunteers, businesses and community members
•Understand that donor information is confidential and should always be handled with care
•Are the kind of person who follows through
•Aren’t afraid to say, “I’ve got it.”

Experience with donor databases, CRM systems, event coordination or charitable organizations would be an asset, but we’re equally interested in finding someone with the right combination of skills, judgment and attitude.

A Little About Working Here
We’re a small team, which means everyone matters. We help each other out and care deeply about the community we serve. This role will work very closely with the Executive Director. Over time, we want this person to become a trusted right hand who knows what’s happening, what’s coming up and what needs attention.
If you like being busy, enjoy making things run better and get genuine satisfaction from being the person people can depend on, you’ll probably enjoy working with us.

This is a four-day-per-week position based with the Saugeen Shores Hospital Foundation in Southampton, Ontario.
There may be an opportunity for the position to grow to five days per week in the future as the Foundation continues to grow.
Occasional evening or weekend availability will be required to support Foundation events, with advance notice whenever possible.

Compensation: $26-$28/hr
To apply, please send your resume and a short note by September 11th telling us a little about yourself and why this sounds like the kind of role you’d enjoy to [email protected]

⛳️ A little rain couldn’t stop the AVS spirit!

While the AVS Memorial Golf Tournament had to be cancelled due to heavy rains some of the attendees still made their way to the clubhouse to enjoy some laughs, good company and a little fun together!

Even more amazing? This incredible group has now given over $25,000 to local healthcare! 🙌

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who has supported the AVS Memorial Tournament over the years. Your generosity continues to make a difference right here in our community. 💙

Here’s to many more rounds (and hopefully clearer skies!) ahead! 🏌️‍♀️🏌️‍♂️

CALLING ALL YOUNG ARTISTS!

We’re looking for a very special piece of artwork for this year’s Light the Way holiday campaign, and we want it to come from a young artist in our community!

Each year, our holiday campaign is mailed to homes throughout the community. Inside is a special card where donors can write a holiday message for a patient spending time in hospital over the holidays, or for one of the staff members caring for them.

Throughout November and December, we deliver those messages to patients and staff at the Southampton Hospital.

And this year, we’d love a young local artist to create the artwork for the front of the card!

We’re inviting kids and youth age 18 and under to send us an original drawing, painting or other piece of artwork that could help brighten someone’s holidays.

It could be:
• a winter or holiday scene
• something inspired by our community
• a drawing about kindness or caring
• something colourful, cheerful or fun
• or simply whatever the holidays mean to you!

The selected artwork will be featured on our 2026 Light the Way holiday card, mailed to homes throughout our community and then shared with patients and hospital staff along with messages of kindness and holiday cheer.

Artwork should work well in a horizontal rectangular format, approximately the shape of a #10 envelope.

September 12

To enter, email your drawing to [email protected]

So, young artists, get out the crayons, markers, paints and pencils. Your artwork could be the piece that brings a little extra light to someone in our hospital this holiday season.

🍋 Lemonade, community spirit & $245 for local healthcare! 🍋

Lachlan, Briar and Rory are back at it! Their annual lemonade stand returned this summer, raising an incredible $245 for the hospital. 💙

And they’re not stopping there! These young community champions already have plans to make their lemonade stand even bigger next year, with their sights set on beating their fundraising record! 🙌

A huge thank you to Lachlan, Briar and Rory for your generosity, hard work and big hearts. We can’t wait to see what you do next summer! ☀️🍋

Are you new to our community?

If you’ve moved to Saugeen Shores or the surrounding area in the last 1-3 years, we’d love to hear from you.

Since making this community home, have you or someone in your family received care at Southampton Hospital or another Brightshores hospital?

Maybe it was an unexpected trip to the Emergency Department, a test or scan, surgery, care for your child or an aging parent, or simply one of those moments when you were grateful to have hospital care close to home.

As we prepare for our upcoming holiday fundraising campaign, we’re looking for a few newer residents who would be willing to share their experience and help us tell the story of what having access to local healthcare means to the people who call this community home.

You don’t need to have a dramatic story. We’re interested in the everyday experiences too. A growing community means new families, new neighbours and new generations who will rely on local healthcare.

If this sounds like you and you’d be open to being part of our holiday campaign, please send us a message at [email protected]
We’d love to hear your story.

08/22/2026

As we’ve been reading through the Gran Fondo Lake Huron post-ride surveys, there are two things riders mentioned over and over again: our incredible volunteers and our incredible community.

Riders told us how welcoming, helpful and encouraging our volunteers were at every turn. From registration and rest stops to intersections, the finish line and the after-ride celebration, you made people feel looked after and part of something special.

And then there were the cheers.

So many riders commented on how much it meant to see people along the routes clapping, waving, ringing bells and cheering them on. They noticed the signs. They noticed the families at the end of driveways. They noticed the people who simply came outside to encourage a group of cyclists riding through their community.

But what was especially wonderful to hear was that the welcome didn’t end when they got off their bikes.

About 60% of our riders come from outside our local area, travelling from across Ontario, other provinces, the U.S. and even overseas. They told us they felt welcomed throughout the entire weekend, while shopping in our stores, eating in our restaurants and spending time in our communities.

That matters.

The Gran Fondo Lake Huron may be a cycling event and a fundraiser for rural healthcare, but for one weekend, we are also welcoming hundreds of visitors into the place we call home.

To every volunteer who gave their time, and every community member and local business who helped make our riders feel welcome: thank you.

The riders noticed.

And so did we.
