FEEL GOOD FRIDAY 💜

Before we close out another week,
I want you to think about something other than your productivity.

Not what you accomplished.

Not what you crossed off your list.

Not what you still need to get done.

What made life feel good this week?

Something that made you laugh.

A beautiful sky.

A good conversation.

A moment when you felt strong.

A meal you really enjoyed.

Music in the car.

Five quiet minutes with your coffee.

Joy doesn’t have to be enormous to matter.

Sometimes a very good life is built from hundreds of small moments
we were present enough to notice.

What was one of yours this week?

EPA and DHA are also important components of the membranes surrounding our cells, which is one reason Omega-3 status can matter across many areas of health.

And this is where I think personalized information becomes so valuable.

You can eat fish.
You can take an Omega-3 supplement.
You can follow all the recommendations.

But that still doesn’t necessarily tell you what your own fatty-acid profile looks like.

Testing gives us information that guessing can’t.

The Omega-3 BalanceTest is an at-home fatty-acid profile test that looks at 11 fatty acids in the blood and provides information about your Omega-6:3 balance and other wellness markers. It is intended for informational self-screening — not to diagnose, treat or cure disease.

Sometimes the first step isn’t adding another supplement.

It’s understanding what’s already happening.

Let’s take a look at your fatty-acid balance. 💜

Muscle is about so much more than how your body looks.
For years, exercise was marketed to women around shrinking ourselves.
Burn more calories.
Lose weight.
Take up less space.
I want us to think about strength very differently.
Muscle helps us stay capable.
It supports the things that become increasingly important as we get older — strength, mobility, physical confidence and the ability to keep doing the things we love.
So strength training isn’t punishment for something you ate.
It’s an investment in your future self.
Every time you lift, push, pull, squat or carry something challenging, you’re not simply exercising.
You’re practising for the life you want to keep living.
What do you want your body to still be able to do 10 or 20 years from now?

Someday is not a plan.
We say it all the time.
When I retire.
When work slows down.
When the kids need me less.
When I have more time.
Someday.
But the strength, energy, mobility and confidence we hope to have later are being influenced by how we live today.
Healthy aging isn’t about trying to stay young.
It’s about being able to participate fully in your own life for as long as possible.
To travel.
To carry your own suitcase.
To get down on the floor and get back up.
To hike, dance, garden, play with grandchildren, explore new places — or whatever makes your life feel like yours.
We can prepare financially for the future.
We can also prepare physically and emotionally for it.
So maybe the better question isn’t:
“What do I want to do someday?”
Maybe it’s:

Omega-6 is not the enemy—and omega-3 is not a magic solution.

Your body needs both.

The challenge is that many of us consume omega-6 fats regularly, while foods containing the marine omega-3s EPA and DHA may appear far less often.

This doesn’t mean you need to fear certain foods or chase one “perfect” ratio. A more supportive approach is to focus on what you can add:

🐟 Salmon, sardines, trout or herring
đŸ„š Omega-3-enriched eggs
đŸŒ± Chia seeds, ground flaxseed and walnuts for the plant-based omega-3 ALA
đŸ„— More nourishing whole foods overall

Plant sources are valuable, but ALA is not the same as EPA and DHA, and our bodies convert only a limited amount. That is one reason fatty fish—or an appropriately chosen omega-3 supplement—can play a helpful role.

The other piece is knowing whether your habits are actually changing your fatty-acid balance.

That is where testing and retesting can provide more personalized information than guessing alone.

This is not about perfection. It is about understanding your body and making informed, consistent choices.

Which omega-3 food could you realistically enjoy more often?

Strength training is often presented as something we do to change how our bodies look.

But as we move through midlife and beyond, strength becomes about so much more than appearance.

It helps us carry groceries, climb stairs, get up from the floor, travel, garden, hike, play with grandchildren, and keep participating fully in our lives.

Muscle supports balance, mobility, metabolic health and our ability to remain independent as we age.

That is why I am recommitting to my own strength training
not because I need to punish or shrink my body, but because I want to build a body that can support the life I still want to live.

I want to feel strong.

I want energy for adventures.

I want confidence in what my body can do.

And I want to keep saying yes to life for many years to come.

Healthy aging is not about trying to stay young.

It is about caring for the woman we are becoming.

I keep coming back to one question:

What am I waiting for?

Most of us already know many of the things that would help us feel healthier, happier, stronger, or more fulfilled.

The challenge is not always knowing what to do.

Sometimes the challenge is deciding that it matters enough to make room for it now.

It might be going for the walk.

Booking the appointment.

Returning to the gym.

Getting back to a creative practice you love.

Calling someone you miss.

Creating a better bedtime routine.

Planning the trip.

Or finally beginning something that has quietly lived in the “someday” part of your mind for far too long.

We do not need to change everything at once.

But we can choose one thing that deserves a place in our lives today.

What is one thing you are ready to stop putting off?

When I talk about longevity, I am not talking about trying to live forever.

I am talking about being able to enjoy your life for a long time.

I want to hike in the mountains.
Travel.
Carry my own groceries.
Dance in my kitchen.
Get up off the floor without needing a strategy meeting first. 😊
Feel strong enough to say yes when life brings an adventure.

And that is why I believe menopause deserves to be part of the longevity conversation.

This season of life can be a beautiful reminder to care for the things that will support us for years to come:

Nourishing food.
Strength and movement.
Sleep.
Stress support.
Muscle.
Connection.
Joy.

Not from fear.

From the desire to feel vibrant, capable, and fully present in our own lives.

Sometimes the body whispers before it shouts.

And in midlife, those whispers can be easy to brush off.
“I’m just getting older.”
“It’s probably menopause.”
“I’m busy.”
“This is normal now.”

But certain patterns can be worth paying attention to.
Not because they automatically mean your
Omega-3 and Omega-6 balance is off.

They don’t.

But they may be one reason to get curious about whether your body is getting enough essential fat support.

Some women notice:
brain fog that feels different than normal tiredness
skin that feels drier or less resilient
mood that feels less steady
stiffness that makes them feel older than they are
low energy, even when they’re trying to eat well
sleep that doesn’t feel as restorative

These patterns can have many causes:
hormones, stress, blood sugar, thyroid, iron, sleep, digestion, hydration, medication, and more.

That’s why I never like to reduce a woman’s body to one thing.

But Omega-3s are part of the structure of cell membranes,
and DHA is especially concentrated in the brain and eyes.

So yes, fatty acids are worth talking about.

Especially for women who are tired of guessing.

DM if you want information on checking your Omega 3/6 levels.

One of the reasons women get frustrated in midlife
is because the advice is often too generic.

Eat less.
Move more.
Sleep better.
Reduce stress.
Take Omega-3s.
Drink more water.

None of that is wrong.
It’s just incomplete.

Because two women can eat very similar foods and still have very different bodies, stress loads, sleep patterns, hormone shifts, digestion, nutrient needs, and fatty acid levels.

That’s why I like to look at the body in layers.
What are you eating?
Are you digesting it well?
Are you getting enough protein?
How is your blood sugar?
How is your sleep?
How much stress is your nervous system carrying?
Are you getting enough essential fats?
What does your Omega-6:Omega-3 balance look like?

This is where fatty acid balance testing can be useful (ask me how)
It doesn’t replace the conversation.
It gives us another piece of it.

And sometimes that piece helps a woman understand why “I’m doing everything right” still doesn’t feel like enough.
Midlife is not the time for cookie-cutter wellness.
It’s the time to get more curious, more specific, and more respectful of what the body is trying to communicate.
