Your nervous system called. It would like you to go outside. 🌿

Mine requested sunshine, fresh air and a paddle board.
Willow’s nervous system has requested that I never do this to her again.

We’re all on different healing journeys. 🤣

Late summer has its own rhythm. 🌻

In Chinese Medicine, late summer is associated with the Earth element and the Spleen, a system closely connected with digestion, energy, and the transformation of food and fluids.

It’s also a season associated with Dampness, which can show up as that heavy, sluggish feeling: brain fog, fatigue, bloating, loose stools, congestion, or just feeling a little weighed down.

This is a good time of year to keep things simple, warm cooked foods, regular meals, gentle movement, enough rest, and fewer cold or iced foods.

Sometimes, the shift between seasons asks us to slow down a little. 🍂

August always feels a little different. 🌻

Summer is still here, but the days are slowly getting shorter, the evenings a little softer, and after weeks of trying to fit everything in, you might be feeling ready to slow down too.

You don’t have to choose between enjoying what’s left of summer and giving yourself a little more rest.
Take the trip. Go to the lake. Sit outside while it’s warm. And have the quiet night when you need one.

There’s still time. 💛

While I was on holiday, I had the chance to visit Barkerville, one of British Columbia's most fascinating historic towns.

One of my favourite places to explore there is Chinatown.

As an acupuncturist, I often think about the people who carried Traditional Chinese Medicine to British Columbia. They preserved generations of knowledge while building new lives here despite facing discrimination and incredible hardship.

Walking through Barkerville is a reminder that acupuncture is part of a tradition spanning thousands of years, one that was carried across the world and kept alive by communities who refused to let it disappear.

I'm grateful to the practitioners who came before me and for the opportunity to continue practicing this medicine today.

If you ever visit Barkerville, I highly recommend spending some time exploring Chinatown. It's a beautiful and important part of our shared history. ❤️

☀️ Summer migraines?

Have you noticed your headaches seem worse when the temperatures rise?

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, summer is the season of Fire. Heat has an upward, expanding nature, which may contribute to symptoms like:

🔥 Headaches & migraines
🔥 Feeling overheated
🔥 Flushed skin
🔥 Irritability or restlessness
🔥 Trouble sleeping
🔥 Excess sweating
🔥 Increased thirst

✨ Not every migraine is caused by Heat.

Stress, hormones, dehydration, sleep, diet, and many other factors can all play a role. That's why Chinese Medicine looks beyond the diagnosis to understand your unique pattern.

Acupuncture aims to restore balance, calm the nervous system, and address the root cause of your symptoms, not just the headache itself.

✨ New offering ✨

I’m now booking combination sessions that bring together facial acupuncture and therapeutic body acupuncture in one treatment.

This option is ideal for clients who want to support facial rejuvenation while also addressing body tension, such as back or neck pain, migraines, stress, or muscular tightness.

Each session is tailored to you on the day and includes facial acupuncture, body acupuncture, back cupping, facial cupping, gua sha, facial massage, and scalp work, depending on your needs.

If you’ve come in for facial acupuncture but also deal with physical tension or headaches, this may be a great fit for you.

Feel free to ask about it at your next appointment or check out thehealingcabin.ca for more info 🤍
