Marriage isn’t about finding someone you never disagree with—it’s about learning how to navigate life’s challenges together.

Before saying “I do,” some of the most important conversations aren’t about the wedding day at all. They’re about how you’ll handle conflict, finances, family dynamics, parenting, household responsibilities, and the countless everyday decisions that shape a life together.

Having these conversations doesn’t mean your relationship is in trouble. In fact, it’s often a sign that you’re investing in a stronger future together.

Whether you’re engaged, newly married, or years into your relationship, couples therapy can provide a supportive space to explore these topics, strengthen communication, and build skills that help your relationship thrive.

📚 Looking for a place to start? We highly recommend The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work by Dr. John Gottman and Nan Silver—a practical, research-based resource for understanding what helps relationships succeed.

💜If you’re ready to deepen your connection and have some of these important conversations, we’re here to help. Reach out to book a couples therapy appointment today.

Most people don't expect a therapy space to be designed with new parents in mind. But at The Calm Place, we've thought about the little things that can make a big difference when you're navigating life with a new baby.

🍼 Many of our therapists welcome babies in session
🍼 Judgment-free nursing and feeding
🍼 Therapists who understand that babies don't follow schedules, routines, or plans
🍼 The flexibility to switch to virtual sessions when you're running on no sleep or your little one is having a tough day
🍼 A clean, quiet space to pause, regulate, and breathe
🍼 Toys available to help keep little ones entertained
🍼 A space to warm bottles when needed
🍼 A change table in our bathroom
🍼 Accessible, stroller-friendly building access
🍼 Coffee available when you need a little recharge
🍼 Pre- and postnatal classes offered through The Calm Space

Because caring for your mental health shouldn't require perfect timing, a predictable schedule, or a baby who cooperates with your plans.

Parenthood is demanding enough. We believe support should be flexible, welcoming, and built around real life.

We spend so much time trying to learn new things:

✨ Better coping skills
✨ Healthier communication
✨ New ways of thinking

But healing isn't always about adding more. Sometimes it's about unlearning.

Unlearning the belief that your worth is tied to productivity.
Unlearning the idea that your needs are "too much."
Unlearning survival strategies that once protected you but no longer serve you.

Growth isn't just what we take in—it's also what we're willing to let go of.

What is something you're currently unlearning? 💭

A gentle reminder:

In therapy, it's okay to not know where to start.
It's okay to cry, laugh, ramble, pause, or say "I don't know."

You don't have to earn support by having the "right" problem or the "perfect" words.

You just have to show up.

✨ Save this for a reminder on the days you need it.

When life feels overwhelming, our minds often zoom in on the biggest waves.

This art therapy exercise invites us to do something different: slow down, make one simple mark at a time, and notice what happens when we release the pressure to make everything perfect.

Each fish is imperfect on its own. Together, they create something meaningful.

As you watch, consider:
🐟 What “wave” has been taking up the most space in your mind lately?
🐟 What might happen if you focused on just the next small step instead of the entire ocean?
🐟 Where is perfectionism asking for more than you can realistically give?

Sometimes healing isn’t about fixing every worry.

Sometimes it’s about remembering that you are more than the thoughts, feelings, and experiences moving through you.

You are the water, not just the waves. 🌊
