In Newfoundland and Labrador, more than 900 children and youth are currently in care and unable to live with their families. The province continues to face a critical shortage of foster homes, meaning some children must be placed far from their communities, schools, friends, and support networks.
For many children, family based care provides more than a roof over their head—it offers stability, connection, belonging, and hope during some of the most difficult times in their lives.
Becoming a family based carer doesn't require perfection. It requires compassion, patience, and a willingness to open your heart and home to a child who needs support.
The need is real. The impact is lifelong.
If you have ever considered fostering, now is the time to learn more. One caring home can change the trajectory of a child's life. ❤️
