✨ This Month's Member Spotlight is on Cynthia ✨
If you had asked Cynthia a year ago if she'd be attending 6:15 a.m. strength training classes in the middle of summer, she would have laughed.
At 61 years old, Cynthia works as a vice-principal at an elementary school, enjoys yoga, walking, cooking, textile arts, and spending time with her blended family of five grown children. Like many women, she had been thinking about joining Mobility for quite some time, but the idea of walking into a gym felt intimidating. When she saw our Intro to Classes program advertised, it felt like the perfect opportunity to finally take that first step.
At the time, Cynthia says she was simply tired of feeling tired. Although she was already walking and practicing yoga, she was struggling with low energy, achy joints, and feeling uncomfortable in her own body. She admits that, like many people beginning a health journey, her initial goal was weight loss.
"What used to work ten years ago wasn't working anymore," she says. "I was finding myself out of breath after a few flights of stairs, feeling unbalanced, and I knew something needed to change."
The Intro to Classes program gave her exactly what she needed—a comfortable starting point. Committing to just two classes each week for six weeks felt manageable, and the welcoming instructors and familiar faces quickly helped calm the nerves she had about joining.
That first six weeks became the foundation for something much bigger.
Instead of stopping there, Cynthia continued attending regular classes, joined April's Hormone Revive program, stayed connected through ongoing accountability coaching, and this summer took another leap by joining our Small Group Training program.
While the scale shows an incredible 30-pound weight loss, Cynthia says the number doesn't tell the whole story.
She has more energy. She feels stronger. The daily inflammation and aching joints that once bothered her have been replaced by the satisfying soreness that comes after a challenging workout. Simple everyday tasks feel easier, and perhaps most importantly, she feels comfortable in her own skin again.
One of the biggest surprises, however, wasn't physical at all.
It was the community.
Over the past year, Cynthia has reconnected with old friends and former coworkers, built new friendships, and even found a workout buddy to help keep each other accountable throughout the summer. She describes Mobility as a place where everyone leaves feeling better than when they arrived.
"The coaches know their members," she says. "They notice the small changes, they're always encouraging us, and every class is upbeat and fun. It feels like a family."
She credits much of her success to the guidance and accountability she has received from April, particularly through Hormone Revive and their regular coaching check-ins.
"Knowing I'll be checking in keeps me focused on how much better I feel now," she explains.
Perhaps the biggest transformation has been changing the conversation she has with herself.
There was once a voice that immediately said, "I can't do that." Whether it was a push-up, holding a plank, or climbing the rooftop stairs, self-doubt often came first.
Today, that voice has changed.
"I tell myself, 'I can do it. It may not be perfect, but I'm doing my best, and I know I'll improve.'"
When asked what she's most proud of, Cynthia's answer wasn't about losing weight or reaching a fitness milestone.
It was much simpler.
"I've made my health a priority. I'm finally putting myself first."
For anyone who's been thinking about joining but keeps putting it off, Cynthia offers this advice:
"Take the first step. Join the Intro Group. Go to a class. It doesn't have to be all or nothing."
Her story is a wonderful reminder that meaningful change doesn't happen overnight. It begins with one small decision, one class, one workout, one healthy choice at a time. A year later, Cynthia isn't just healthier—she's stronger, more confident, surrounded by a supportive community, and living proof that it's never too late to invest in yourself. 🩷
