UPDATE: Although the province has placed York Region into the Grey Zone, this does NOT impact our clinic. We will remain open for all Chiropractic, Naturopathic, Massage and Acupuncturist services.

We will continue to practice regular sanitization, mask protocols and distancing in accordances with the rules dictated by our government regulatory boards.

The College of Naturopaths has ordered that all non-essential and elective services offered by Naturopathic Doctors cease or be reduced to minimal levels for only emergency cases.

Dr. Brandy Pridham ND., is following these recommendations and all patients will now be serviced via phone consults. If you are an acute/emergency patient, please let us know and we will contact you to discuss further. The clinic will also be offering free delivery of all natural products from our supplement store so that treatment plans can continue.

At Stouffville Natural Health Clinic we take our responsibility of caring for the health of our patients very seriously. We have been monitoring the evolving situation with the COVID 19 virus and have been continuously updating our procedures according to the recommendations from Public Health Ontario and our regulatory bodies.

At this time the The College Of Chiropractors Of Ontario (CCO) and College Of Massage Therapists Of Ontario (CMTO) have strongly recommended that chiropractors and massage therapists suspend all non-essential (except for emergency/acute) services effective immediately.

Dr. Meagan Lynch and Shelley Dukharan are committed to protecting the health and safety of our patients and staff, and have therefore made the difficult decision to close their practice to all non-emergency patients until April 5, 2020 effective immediately. We will continue to reassess the situation and take the advice from Public Health Ontario and the recommendations of the CCO and CMTO.

The Stouffville Natural Health Clinic currently remains open for Naturopathic services and natural health products. We will be returning voicemails and emails on a limited schedule. There is nothing more important to us then our client’s safety and well-being. At this time we are maintaining our regular scheduled clinic hours. We want everyone to feel comfortable knowing that we have implemented heightened cleaning regimens
The clinic will be cleaned meticulously every day by our amazing staff using hospital-grade disinfectants on all beds and furniture, effectively killing 99.9% of germs and bacteria.

Due to risk of COVID-19, we kindly ask that all patients attending our clinic to please comply with the following criteria:

1. Have no new fever, nor new onset of cough, runny nose or difficulty breathing.
2. Have not been out of country in the 2 weeks preceding your next scheduled appointment.
3. Have not been in close contact with a confirmed or probable person ill with COVID-19.

Dr. K here...One of my biggest pet peeves in clinical practice is when I see a child prescribed Ritalin or Adderall for ADHD without first screening the child for iron deficiency. ⠀⠀
Multiple, multiple studies have now shown that iron deficiency is strongly linked with ADHD symptoms. And several other studies have shown that those same kids have clinical improvement in symptoms when they are supplemented with iron. No need for stimulants when iron deficiency is repleted!⠀⠀
Kids with “ADHD” should get basic bloodwork done to screen for anemia and iron deficiency. This includes (minimum!) a complete blood count, ferritin, and whole blood lead. (Lead toxicity worsens anemia, not to mention the neurological problems it causes.)⠀⠀
Remember that serum iron isn’t super helpful in diagnosing iron deficiency. CBC changes showing a trend toward hypochromic, microcytic cells suggest iron deficiency. Ferritin checks for iron stores and is more reliable in most, but not all cases. (Remember as an acute phase reactant it can be elevated in times of inflammation)⠀⠀
A note to my naturopathic colleagues: typically with adults we look for ferritin to be >60 ng/mL. (Lots if research supports this for better sleep, hair, energy, etc.) But for kids I routinely see ferritin levels under 60, even in super healthy kids. My theory is that they simply use iron so quickly for growth. Supplementing to a target of 60 is almost certainly unreasonable and unnecessary and potentially increases risk of harm. ⠀⠀
Kids who would benefit the most from iron supplementation are probably those with ferritin under 20.⠀⠀
