We really need to talk about screens and social media. New meta-analysis published very recently points to continually increasing rates of self-harm among Canadian youth and especially females. https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamapediatrics/fullarticle/2845856?guestAccessKey=a9a80f03-a82a-4a70-9abb-c2968d2e2696&utm_source=for_the_media&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=ftm_links&utm_content=tfl&utm_term=031626

And social media is playing a role. https://www.anxiousgeneration.com/

We change policy, culture, and behavior through collective action — so every child grows up with more play, independence, and real-world connection, and less time online.

We are thrilled to share that we have a new pediatric, clinical psychologist joining our team this month!

Dr. Sarah Boyle, completed both her Master's and PhD at the University of Guelph's pediatric clinical psychology program, completed a pediatric residency in Victoria and has been working in Guelph for the last number of months. She has particular interest in trauma treatment and in working with the preschool and early childhood population. We are beyond excited about the level of skill, training and expertise that she brings to the team and to Island families.

And with the addition of Dr. Boyle to the IPC team, we are also very excited to significantly reduce our wait times!

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Boyle to the IPC team and back to the Island. ❤️
