Thank you to everyone who made this year's Hike for Hospice so special! It was such a meaningful day of community, despite the wet weather. You stepped up, showed up, and supported hospice care close to home, and for that, we are so thankful.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Sonia Wagler, whose thoughtful contribution to our Every Day Counts campaign was made in honour of Shirley Wagler. Today, we remember and celebrate a life that continues to inspire and is deeply missed.

The Every Day Counts campaign helps support Rotary Hospice by inviting individuals to contribute $350, which is the amount needed to cover operating costs per room per day. While residents receive care at no cost, Rotary Hospice depends on community donations to cover essential expenses not funded by the government. Your support directly enhances the quality of care we provide, helping us remain a place of comfort, dignity, and compassion. We're still thinking about the incredible turnout for Hike for Hospice, and are excited to share some photos from the event.

The sense of community, connection, and compassion that day was so special, and we are so grateful to each and every person who signed up, fundraised, donated, volunteered, sponsored, and cheered us on. Because of YOU, Hike for Hospice was a wonderful success!

More photos will be shared in the coming days. 🩵

Seven years ago today, we officially opened our doors. 🩵

At the time, no one could fully know the stories that would unfold within these walls, the moments of love, grief, courage, connection, laughter, heartbreak, and remembrance that would become part of our shared history.

Since opening our doors in June of 2019, we have had the privilege of caring for 640 residents. Through them, we have also walked alongside countless family members and loved ones.

Beyond our hospice home, our Visiting Hospice program has brought companionship and support to individuals in the community, while our grief and bereavement programs have helped people navigate loss and find connection during difficult times.

As we reflect on this anniversary, we're celebrating that hospice has always been a community effort. Every resident and family who has trusted us with their care, every volunteer who has shared their time, every donor who has given generously, and every staff member who has shown up with compassion have helped shape this journey.

This anniversary isn't simply a reflection of seven years of a building being open. It's a reflection on the people who have passed through our doors, welcomed us into their lives, and helped create a community where no one has to face end-of-life alone.

Thank you for being part of that story.

Thank you to Gerald Kocher for his meaningful donation to our Every Day Counts campaign, paying for a day of care for all 10 rooms in memory of Mary Kocher. Today, we reflect on the life of someone cherished and profoundly missed.

Your gift helps make every day count and every moment matter. By donating $350 to our Every Day Counts campaign, you help fund one day of care for a resident room, providing comfort and support during life’s most tender moments. Your gift is more than a donation; it’s a heartfelt tribute to someone you love and a way to ensure others receive compassion and dignity when they need it most.

Rotary Hospice offers care at no cost to residents, but relies on your generosity to bridge the funding gap. Together, we can ensure this sanctuary continues to serve our community with dignity and love. Learn more at www.rotaryhospice.ca/every-day-counts or reach out to [email protected]
