Welcome to the world, little one! 👶✨

Those first few hours, days and weeks after birth are a magical, whirlwind time. One of the simplest and most powerful ways to comfort your newborn is right at your fingertips: skin-to-skin contact.

Holding your baby skin-to-skin as much as you can during these early weeks offers incredible benefits for both of you. Here is how that close connection helps your new baby:

* Supports breastfeeding: Snuggling close stimulates your baby’s natural instincts, making it easier to latch and nurse.

* Keeps your baby warm: Your body temperature naturally adjusts to perfectly regulate your baby’s body temperature.

* Reduces crying and stress: The sound of your heartbeat and the familiarity of your scent instantly soothe and comfort them.

* Regulates blood sugar: Physical closeness helps steady your baby’s internal systems and blood sugar levels after delivery.

* Promotes deep bonding: This uninterrupted time releases feel-good hormones like oxytocin, helping you build a secure attachment.

* Aids birth recovery: It gives your baby a gentle, safe space to rest and recover from the intense journey of being born.

Partners can join in too! Skin-to-skin isn’t just for moms—partners can tuck baby against their chest to share these exact same bonding benefits and build their own special connection right from the start.

So find a comfortable spot, unbutton your shirt, and enjoy these sweet, quiet moments together. Your touch is exactly what your baby needs.

As the weather cools down, it is so natural to want to bundle up our little ones to keep them cozy.🍂

Here is a gentle reminder to help keep your baby safe and comfortable: babies don’t need to wear hats when they are indoors.

Because babies regulate most of their body temperature through their head and face, wearing a hat inside can make them too warm.

Keeping them cap-free indoors helps their bodies stay at a perfectly safe, comfortable temperature, which is one of the best ways to protect them and reduce the risk of SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome).🤍

Ah, 2026. This year marks twenty years as a doula.

Over two decades, I am deeply grateful for the lessons evidence and experience has quietly taught me along the way:

Every family is unique, carrying their own hopes, strengths, and stories.

Support is a fundamental right, not a privilege. Every family deserves a steady presence.

Birth is a sacred, deeply personal space — one that belongs entirely to the parents and their child, not an audience.

Control is a gentle illusion. Fifty percent of every childbirth experience is guided by the baby.

Language carries immense power. I choose “cesarean birth” over “c-section” because babies are always born, never simply delivered.

There is no single “right” way to give birth. The best path is the one where the family feels safe, informed, and respected.

I am a keeper of sacred stories. A family’s journey is theirs alone. Out of deep respect for their privacy, I hold these memories close and choose not to share them publicly, even with permission.

The postpartum period is one of the most humbling, raw, and beautifully vulnerable spaces that requires immense grace.

Human milk feeding is natural, but it is rarely easy. It takes time, patience, and a circle of support.

Strong foundations are built with care. Combining expert guidance, evidence-based education, and gentle nurturing create healthy foundations for life.

The familial bond deeply matters. When we nurture the connection at the heart of a home, we strengthen the whole family.

Healthy families build vibrant communities. When parents and babies thrive, society heals from the roots up.

Through the years, I have witnessed incredible changes and navigated many challenges.

What anchors me through it all? A deep love for family—my own, and yours.

Every family deserves the steady presence of a doula. As long as I am able, I will continue to dedicate myself to this cherished and deeply meaningful work.

Healing our future starts with truth.

Acknowledging our past requires us to look honestly at our shared history—even the painful chapters—without minimizing or turning away from it.

Let’s choose to listen openly, acknowledge the full story, and take that first, gentle step toward building meaningful relationships and a better path forward together.

Reconciliation is the work ahead of us.🧡

20 years as a Doula, and it’s still my favourite quote:

“Do good without show or fuss... If you must take the lead, lead so that the mother is helped, yet still free and in charge. When the baby is born, the mother will rightly say, ‘We did it ourselves.’ “ — Lao Tzu

Mama, hold fast to the truth that you know what isbest for your child and your family.💛

So delighted to see this as RCOG policy, and much appreciation to authors, especially obstetrician Andrew Weeks who has been advocating for 'optimal cord management' for decades..
"The minutes after birth are now recognised as a time of remarkable change within the baby and we have learned that interfering with this natural process can cause potential harm...
Early cord clamping will result in the baby having a lower blood volume as it is estimated that a baby at full term will receive around 30% of its total blood volume from placental transfer via the umbilical cord. The decision on timing to clamp the umbilical cord should be based on observations of the baby, its heart rate and breathing rather than a predefined interval after birth. Also, the palpable pulsation of the cord is unrelated to the blood flowing back and forth therefore it should not be used to guide the time when clamping occurs. Clamping at the placental end allows some blood in the cord to transfer to the newborn. There are other benefits to the baby from the placental transfer of blood such as transfer of stem cells."

Every new beginning holds an incredible world of potential. Welcoming a little one isn’t just a milestone—it is a profound, beautiful transformation that changes everything, opening up a chapter filled with fresh hope and endless horizons.

Watching a family step into that fresh space is exactly why I do what I do.

The transition into parenthood is a massive shift, and my mission is simple: to ensure you never have to walk that path alone. I provide the steady, compassionate care, education, and reassurance you need to feel completely supported, confident, and grounded from pregnancy through postpartum.
