A widespread phishing scam is targeting Albertans with fraudulent text messages falsely claiming their physical health card is "obsolete". The province confirms these texts are fake. Alberta Health Services (AHS) and the government will never send unsolicited text messages asking for your personal or financial information

These messages may ask you to click a link or provide personal information such as:
• Alberta Health Care number
• Banking or credit card information
• Personal identification details

*** Please be cautious. Do not click on suspicious links or share personal or financial information unless you have confirmed you are dealing with an official government source.

If you receive a message that seems suspicious:
* Delete the message.
* Do not reply or click any links.
*. Verify the need to release any health care-related information directly through official Alberta government channels.
