As we age, maintaining brain health becomes more important than ever. 🧠🥋

Research shows that martial arts can improve cognitive function, mental well-being, and quality of life in older adults. By combining physical activity, mental focus, and social connection, martial arts may enhance neuroplasticity, boost BDNF (a key brain-growth factor), improve memory and executive function, and reduce loneliness.

From Tai Chi to more dynamic martial arts styles like Brazilian Jiujitsu and Judo, Karate, training offers benefits for the body, mind, and community—helping older adults stay stronger, sharper, and more connected.

Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) is a condition where the brain has difficulty sending and receiving signals properly, leading to very real symptoms—without a structural injury or disease causing them.

From a physiotherapy perspective, we understand FND as a problem with how movement is controlled, not whether movement is possible. The nervous system is adaptable, which means recovery is possible.

Treatment focuses on retraining movement, improving body awareness, and regulating the nervous system. With the right support, many individuals can return to activities that matter to them.

At Neuromotion, we support clients with FND through education and targeted physical strategies to help them reach their goals.
