Diane Lee & Associates - Physiotherapy

Diane Lee & Associates - Physiotherapy Empowering you through knowledge, movement & awareness to help you reach your active goals!

At Diane Lee & Associates - Consultants in Physiotherapy we strive to be a center of excellence and our goal is to address the cause of your pain as opposed to merely treating your painful structures. All of the physiotherapists at Diane Lee & Associates are experts in the physical diagnosis of movement impairments and have taken several post-graduate courses in their specialty. They work as a tea

m, frequently consulting with one another to bring you the best care possible. Ultimately, our goal is to help you change the way you use your body by initially creating awareness of the non-optimal movement patterns that currently overload structures and create pain. We will provide you with the tools necessary (knowledge, control, flexibility & strength) to move/exercise in ways that create optimal loading and efficient, pain free movement. If this approach sounds intriguing, we encourage you to explore this site for further information on our passion.

Movement rehabilitation is about more than just exercising. It’s about rebuilding the foundation for movement, then progressing safely back to the activities that matter most.

In the early stages of recovery, physiotherapy focuses on restoring movement, improving muscle control, and helping your body move the way it was designed to. As you progress, kinesiology builds on that foundation with strength, endurance, and functional training to prepare you for work, sport, and everyday life.

This collaborative approach is especially valuable for patients recovering from a motor vehicle accident. With ICBC Early Access funding, eligible patients have access to both physiotherapy and kinesiology, allowing your care to progress as your recovery does.

In this reel, Diane explains why the transition from physiotherapy to kinesiology is such an important part of movement rehabilitation and how working together helps bridge the gap between feeling better and getting back to living your life with confidence.

Have you been living with pain for months or even years?

Many of the people Cathy works with have already seen multiple healthcare providers before coming to Diane Lee & Associates. Often, it’s not because treatment hasn’t been helpful, it’s because the full picture hasn’t been explored.

A sore back may not be just a sore back. Previous injuries, such as an ankle fracture or whiplash from a car accident, can influence how your body moves and functions years later.

Using the Integrated Systems Model, our physiotherapists take a whole-body approach to understand how different regions may be connected and identify what’s truly driving your symptoms.

From there, treatment is tailored to you and may include manual therapy, acupuncture or dry needling, movement retraining, and education, giving you the tools to better understand your body and take an active role in your recovery.

Every story is different, and every treatment plan should be too.

Starting at 4:00 AM, Olivia completed the Grouse Grind 15 times in just 18 hours, finishing at 10:00 PM, all while raising funds for North Shore Rescue.

Join us in congratulating Olivia on this incredible achievement! 👏❤️

Not all spinal asymmetries are created equal.

When assessing conditions such as scoliosis and other spinal disorders, it’s important to understand whether the spine’s alignment is being influenced by a structural change or by factors such as muscle tension, joint restriction, and movement patterns.

At Diane Lee & Associates, our goal isn’t simply to look at an X-ray or focus on a curve. We want to understand how your spine is functioning, what may be contributing to your symptoms, and where there may be opportunities to improve movement, strength, and everyday function.

Just as importantly, we believe in helping people understand their condition. Knowledge empowers people to make informed decisions, participate actively in their care, and live fuller, more confident lives.

In this reel, Judit shares why understanding the “why” behind spinal alignment is such an important part of treatment.

What if healthcare wasn’t about fixing people, but empowering them? 💪

When Diane Lee founded Diane Lee & Associates Physiotherapy, her vision was to create more than a clinic. She wanted to mentor the next generation of physiotherapists while helping clients better understand their bodies, their movement patterns, and their ability to influence their own recovery.

We believe lasting change happens when people are given the knowledge, tools, and confidence to take an active role in their health, not when they become dependent on someone else to “fix” them.

Through education, movement awareness, and individualized care, our goal is to help every person feel empowered to move forward with confidence.

We had the pleasure of hosting last week at Diane Lee & Associates for an evening inservice on HODA-A.

Dr. Abbott also spent two days in clinic shadowing our team, and we were proud to have our approach to care recognized—not just for clinical excellence, but for the way we connect with and support each individual we work with.

A care ethesist is a big part of being a successful clinician and DLA has a ton of it! A care ethicist is a moral philosopher who studies the Ethics of Care, a theory emphasizing that morality is rooted in relationships, interdependence, and responsiveness to specific needs rather than abstract, universal principles. It prioritizes compassion, empathy, and situational context, largely developed through feminist theory to challenge traditional, impersonal justice-based ethics.

This is something we deeply value at DLA: delivering high-level clinical care while building meaningful, patient-centered connections.

Grateful for the opportunity to learn alongside and from Dr. Jo Abbott.

At Diane Lee & Associates Physiotherapy, we offer a functional approach to physio in Surrey with our goal being to help you achieve yours.
