Listening isn't just about hearing words. It's about creating space for someone to feel safe enough to share their experience.

Sometimes the most meaningful conversations happen when we pause our own response long enough to fully understand someone else's perspective.

What is one way you try to be a better listener? Share your thoughts below.

Starting a new school year can bring excitement, uncertainty, and sometimes worry - especially if your child has struggled in the past.

When concerns arise, it's natural to want to protect and advocate for your child. At the same time, teachers bring valuable knowledge, care, and perspective from the classroom.

Often, the strongest advocacy grows from respectful relationships built on a shared commitment to supporting the child. If navigating school conversations feels challenging, know that you're not alone. Sometimes
having support can help families approach these conversations with greater confidence, clarity, and connection.

Children are constantly learning from the world around them - not just from what we intentionally teach, but from what they observe.

None of us will get this perfectly. We all grew up with messages of our own.
The good news is that awareness gives us an opportunity to make small changes that support a more compassionate relationship with food and body image - for ourselves and for our children.

If you paused to listen to the everyday messages in your home, what do you hope your child would learn about food, bodies, and self-worth?

Many parents carry guilt when they realize they responded differently to one child than another.

The reality is that families are always changing. Parents gain experience, children have different personalities and emotional needs, and every season of family life brings new opportunities and challenges.

Instead of asking whether we parented each child identically, it may be more helpful to ask: Did I keep learning? Did I try to understand this child for who they are? Was I willing to repair when I got it wrong?

One of the greatest lessons I've learned is that we rarely support a child or teen in isolation.

Parents, caregivers, and the family system play an incredibly important role in helping young people feel understood, supported, and equipped to navigate life's challenges.

When families grow together, lasting change becomes more possible.

If you're looking for support for your child or family, we'd love to help.

Therapy is a collaborative process of slowing down, becoming curious, and making sense of your experiences. Along the way, many people begin to understand themselves with greater compassion, recognize patterns that once felt confusing, and discover new ways of responding to
themselves and the people they care about.

Validation and boundaries work together. One helps children feel understood. The other helps children feel safe.

When we lead with understanding, we strengthen the relationship - and relationships create the foundation where growth, learning, and problem-solving become possible.

Think about a time when someone truly understood how you were feeling.
Did they have to agree with you, or did feeling understood change the conversation?

Have you heard the term masking but weren't quite sure what it meant?
As conversations about neurodivergence continue to grow, so does the use of this word.

From a neurodiversity-affirming perspective, masking isn't simply "pretending" or "being fake." It's often an adaptive strategy that helps children navigate environments where they may beworking hard to meet expectations, feel accepted, or feel safe.

We all adapt our behaviour in different situations. Understanding masking helps us become more curious about what children may be experiencing beneath the surface - and reminds us that some of the greatest effort is often invisible.

When your gifted child asks life's biggest questions, it can leave you wondering whether you should have the answers.

More than answers, they often need an attuned and connected relationship where their curiosity is welcomed and they're free to explore ideas together.

What's one of the biggest questions your child has asked that made you stop and think?
