Most people know that diabetes can impact your eyes, kidneys, and heart—but did you know it can affect your hearing, too?
Over time, high blood sugar can damage the tiny blood vessels and nerves in the inner ear that are essential for hearing.
In fact, hearing loss is about twice as common in adults with diabetes, and even people with prediabetes have a higher risk than those with normal blood sugar levels.
Taking care of your overall health—including managing your blood sugar and having regular hearing evaluations—can help you stay connected to the sounds that matter most.
If you have diabetes or prediabetes, consider adding a hearing test to your routine health care.
Contact your local Beltone Hearing Care Centre to schedule your hearing evaluation.
