Max Scherzer doesn’t just warm up his body before a game. He warms up his mind.
Check out Max’s pregame “shadow pitches” no ball, just pure mental rehearsal. By the time he throws pitch #1, he’s already executed every count and matchup in his head.
He’s using a secret cheat code for everyday life: Visualization.
Your brain struggles to tell the difference between a vividly imagined event and real life. When you mentally rehearse, you build confidence and drop stress before stepping into the room.
How to use “The Scherzer Method” for everyday success:
1. Get granular. Don’t just imagine “doing well.” Imagine the sound of your voice, your posture, and the exact steps of your goal.
2. Rehearse the hurdles. Max visualizes recovering from a 3-0 count. Visualize how you’ll stay calm if a hurdle pops up, so nothing throws you off.
3. Move while you think. Walk through your presentation, practice your stance, or speak your goals aloud. Physical action locks in the mental practice.
Success is built twice: first in your mind, then in reality.
