Earth Stewards

Earth Stewards “We are all stewards and guardians of the Earth, and all life depends on us working together.” — Tyhson Banighen. Founded by Tyhson J.

Earth Stewards is an Infinite Wellness™ community devoted to deepening the sacred connection between Nature and people. This page explores our relationship with the Earth as a living, intelligent, relational being — not merely as scenery, resource, or background to human life. Banighen, M.A., Master Dowser, intuitive guide, spiritual healer, whole-systems educator, and founder of Infinite Wellness™, this work has roots reaching back to 1973 with the creation of Turtle Island Earth Stewards. Earth Stewards brings together teachings and practices from land stewardship, bioregionalism, permaculture, geomancy, dowsing, energy healing, sacred ecology, and whole-systems thinking. The purpose of this page is to help people:
🌿 restore sacred relationship with the Earth
🌿 deepen Nature connection
🌿 understand land and place as living energy systems
🌿 explore geomancy and earth energy mapping
🌿 support harmony between people, homes, land, and Nature
🌿 clear non-beneficial energies from people, homes, and places
🌿 learn practical ways to steward land with reverence
🌿 participate in personal and planetary transformation

At the heart of this work is a simple understanding:
When we become alienated from Nature, we become alienated from our own true nature. Earth Stewards exists to help restore that relationship. Through dowsing, geomancy, sacred space creation, energy clearing, Nature listening, and co-creative relationship with the kingdoms of Nature, we explore how people and places can become more harmonious, coherent, fertile, resilient, and alive. This page is for those who feel called to remember that the Earth is not separate from us. We belong to the living Earth community. And as we restore relationship with Nature, we also restore relationship with ourselves, one another, and the future of life. Earth Stewards is part of the Infinite Wellness™ ecosystem.

A Japanese immunologist spent more than twenty years studying what happens inside the human body when people spend time in forests.

What he discovered surprised even many researchers.

Trees release natural airborne compounds called phytoncides.

As we walk through forests and breathe the air, we inhale some of these microscopic plant compounds.

Research led by Dr. Qing Li found that spending time in forests was associated with lower levels of stress hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline, along with increases in the activity of natural killer (NK) cells, an important part of the immune system.

Some of those immune-related changes were still measurable several days after participants had returned home.

In another experiment, researchers diffused phytoncide-rich tree oils into hotel rooms and observed some similar biological responses, suggesting the compounds themselves may contribute to the effects.

That doesn't mean forests are a medicine or that phytoncides directly eliminate stress hormones.

Physical activity, cleaner air, quieter surroundings, and time away from everyday stress all likely play important roles as well.

But the research suggests that forests may be doing more than simply helping us relax.

Every walk beneath the trees could be exposing our bodies to a complex mix of natural chemicals that subtly influence how we feel and how our bodies respond.

🌿 A prayer for natural time

As I step away for a few days into retreat, I am holding a simple prayer:

May we remember natural time.
May we remember sacred rhythm.
May we remember that healing does not always happen through force.
May we become still enough to listen.
May we reconnect with Nature, with our own true nature, and with the deeper guidance of life.
May this time of personal and planetary transformation be held in love, wisdom, compassion, and light.

One-word offering for today:
What quality would you like to bring into the field?
Peace.
Healing.
Clarity.
Patience.
Trust.
Courage.
Guidance.
Renewal.
Or your own words.

🌿 Natural time and the living Earth

I am away for a few days attending a 13 Moon Calendar Retreat on Salt Spring Island.

The retreat explores the 13 Moon Calendar and the Sacred Mayan Calendar as ways of understanding life through natural rhythms, cycles, symbols, and deeper spiritual timing.
This feels very aligned with Earth Stewards.

When we become disconnected from Nature, we also become disconnected from natural time.

We begin living by artificial urgency rather than organic rhythm.
We forget to listen.
We forget that the Earth has timing.
The body has timing.
The soul has timing.
Communities have timing.
Transformation has timing.

A living question for today:
Where do you feel most connected to natural rhythm — in the seasons, the Moon, the land, your body, your dreams, or something else?

🌿 When we become alienated from Nature, we become alienated from our own true nature.

This may be one of the most important truths of our time.

Nature is not just scenery.

Nature is not just a resource.

Nature is alive, intelligent, relational, and responsive.

When we remember our relationship with Nature, something in us begins to come home.

We listen differently.

We make decisions differently.

We remember that we belong to life, not above it.

The deeper work of stewardship is not simply protecting Nature from the outside.

It is restoring our co-creative relationship with Mother Earth.

What is one place in Nature where you feel most like yourself?

Scotland has made a major leap in renewable energy by deploying the most powerful tidal turbine ever built. Anchored in fast-flowing waters, this engineering marvel converts the kinetic energy of ocean currents into clean electricity. At full capacity, it can power over 2,000 homes and prevent 2,200 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually.

Unlike wind or solar, tidal energy is predictable—it can be calculated years in advance based on the moon’s gravitational pull. This makes it a highly reliable source of green energy that can supplement other renewables.

The turbine’s installation marks a milestone in the shift toward sustainable power solutions. If replicated globally, tidal technology could supply millions of homes with stable, carbon-free electricity, helping fight climate change while preserving marine ecosystems.

“We were told that we would see America come and go. In a sense America is dying, from within, because they forgot the instructions of how to live on earth. Its the Hopi belief, its our belief, that if you are not spiritually connected to the earth, and understand the spiritual reality of how to live on earth, its likely that you will not make it.Everything is spiritual, everything has a spirit, everything was brought here by the creator, the one creator. Some people call him God, some people call him Buddha, some people call him Allah, some people call him other names. We call him Tunkaschila... Grandfather. We are here on earth only a few winters, then we go to the spirit world. The spirit world is more real then most of us believe. The spirit world is everything.Over 95% of our body is water. In order to stay healthy you've got to drink good water. ... Water is sacred, air is sacred. Our DNA is made out of the same DNA as the tree, the tree breaths what we exhale, we need what the tree exhales. So we have a common destiny with the tree. We are all from the earth, and when earth, the water, the atmosphere is corrupted then it will create its own reaction. The mother is reacting. In the Hopi prophecy they say the storms and floods will become greater. To me its not a negative thing to know that there will be great changes. Its not negative, its evolution. When you look at it as evolution, it's time, nothing stays the same. You should learn how to plant something. That is the first connection. You should treat all things as spirit, realize that we are one family. Its never something like the end. Its like life, there is no end to life”
