“You have no idea how much time I spend going over what I ate…it’s all-consuming.”

Actually, we do have an idea.

The constant replaying:

Was it something I ate?
Was it dairy? Gluten? Sugar?
Did I eat too much?
What should I avoid tomorrow?
Why can everyone else eat without worrying?

When you live with ongoing digestive symptoms, food can begin to occupy far too much of your mental space.

But you’re not alone—and you don’t have to keep responding by cutting out more and more foods.

Gut health is like building an orchestra.

If you only focus on the food section, don’t expect the whole digestive system to suddenly play in harmony.

It’s one of the biggest mistakes I see people make.

They change their diet.
Cut out gluten.
Stop eating dairy.
Try low FODMAP.
Add a probiotic.

And a few months later:

“Why am I still bloated?”
“Why am I still constipated?”
“Why is my gut still so unpredictable?”

Because digestion isn’t a menu of individual fixes.

It’s a system.

What you eat matters.

But so does how your gut moves.
How you eat.
Your stress response.
Your nervous system.
Sleep.
Hydration.
Fibre and plant diversity.
Movement.
Hormones.
And the health of your gut microbiome.

You can’t work on one or two pieces and expect the entire system to function differently.

This isn’t about doing more.

It’s about understanding how all the pieces connect—and figuring out which ones need your attention.

Because lasting gut improvement rarely comes from finding the one magical food, supplement or diet.

It comes from getting the whole orchestra playing together.

That’s where the shift happens.

💚 MONDAY SHIFT

Does Monday feel like a fresh start… or gut damage control?

If your IBS tends to act up after the weekend, it’s easy to immediately think:

“What did I eat wrong?”

And then the detective work begins…

Was it the pizza? The wine? Dairy? Gluten? Dessert?

But before you blame the food, take a look at what else changed.

Maybe you ate later than usual. Slept less. Drank less water. Had larger meals. Moved less. Ate at different times. Or simply had a busier weekend.

Your gut experiences the whole weekend — not just what was on your plate.

So instead of starting Monday by restricting, skipping meals or trying to “undo” the weekend, try getting back to the routines that help your gut feel its best.

💧 Hydrate
🍽️ Eat regularly
🚶‍♀️ Move your body
😴 Get back to your sleep routine
🌿 Nourish, rather than restrict

Don’t punish your gut for having a weekend.

Your Monday SHIFT:

💚 Get curious, not restrictive.

Seed crackers are a staple in our house. They’re perfect on their own, topped with hummus, cheese, or your favourite spread. The problem? The really good ones can be surprisingly expensive. So, after lots of experimenting in the kitchen, we came up with this version. It’s simple, packed with wholesome ingredients, and just as delicious as the store-bought varieties—if not better. We think you’re going to love them!

- WHAT YOU NEED-
⅓ cup chia seeds
⅓ cup flax seeds
1 cup boiling water
½ cup sunflower seeds
½ cup pumpkin seeds
4 tbsp sesame seeds ( I use black and white)
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp sea salt
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp dried parsley
Freshly ground black pepper

SHIFT HAPPY GUT Seed Crackers
-WHAT YOU DO-
1. Pour the boiling water over the chia and flax seeds in a large bowl. Stir well and let sit for about 10 minutes until thick and gel-like.
2. Preheat your oven to 350 and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
3. Add the sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, olive oil, sea salt, garlic powder, parsley, and black pepper. Mix until everything is evenly combined.
4. Spread the mixture into a thin, even layer on the prepared baking sheet. The thinner the layer, the crispier the crackers. Score into squares or rectangles before baking.
5. Bake for 45–50 minutes, or until the crackers are firm and lightly golden. For extra crunch, leave them in for a few additional minutes if needed.
6. Cool completely before breaking apart.

Makes: 24 crackers

DIGESTIVE 🔵DOT
These crackers are a simple way to add more fibre and plant diversity to your day—both important for supporting a healthy gut microbiome. If you’re increasing your fibre intake, start with a small serving and drink plenty of water to help your digestive system adjust.

So much of our stress comes from trying to control everything around us.

The deadlines.
The people.
The symptoms.
The “what ifs.”

But peace doesn’t come from finally getting life to cooperate.

It comes from shifting what we can control:
✨ How we breathe.
✨ How we respond.
✨ How we care for our bodies.
✨ How we speak to ourselves.

When your nervous system feels safe, your body responds differently. Your digestion can improve. Your sleep can deepen. Your mind becomes quieter.

Inner peace isn’t about having a perfect life.

It’s about creating a calmer relationship with the life you already have.

What’s one small thing you can change within yourself today instead of trying to change everything around you?

You might be surprised by two tests I DON’T routinely recommend in my gut health practice. 👀

🦠 Microbiome testing
💇‍♀️ Hair mineral analysis

Not because I think they’re useless. In fact, I find the information fascinating.

But fascinating information and clinically actionable information aren’t always the same thing.

Before recommending any test, I ask:

Will the result meaningfully change what I recommend?

Right now, with these two tests, the answer is usually not enough to justify asking my clients to pay for them.

Microbiome science is incredibly exciting, but we’re still learning what an “optimal” microbiome looks like and how individual findings should translate into treatment.

And while we can measure minerals in hair, those levels don’t necessarily tell us what’s happening throughout the rest of the body.

There are practitioners I respect who use these tests as part of a bigger clinical picture. This is simply where I currently draw the line in my own practice.

If the evidence becomes stronger and these tests can reliably help me make better, more individualized recommendations?

I’ll change my approach.

Because I’m not anti-testing.

I’m pro-actionable testing. 🔬

And yes… sometimes I can learn an awful lot about your gut just by asking about your p**p. 💩😂
