Have you ever caught yourself wondering, "Do I have functional depression?"
It’s a term that has gained a lot of traction recently, and it’s something I hear about fairly often. Functional depression usually describes someone who is still going through the motions—working, paying bills, taking care of responsibilities—but internally feels incredibly low, unmotivated, or disconnected.
Because the to-do list is still getting done, it is so easy to dismiss how you're feeling. But the most important question to ask yourself is: how much effort does it take?
If your daily life feels like an endless grind or there is a persistent sense of emptiness, it is worth paying attention to. Just because you are functioning on the outside doesn't mean there isn't a struggle happening on the inside.
If you are finding it hard to navigate multiple areas of your life right now, please know that it is okay to seek help. You don't have to wait until you drop the ball to deserve support. đź’™
