What an EXPERIENCE! ! !
In Thailand, Chiang Mai city they have built an entire temple decorated with silver made art. At Wat Muean Sarn (Silver Temple) you can experience the historical icons and symbology of traditional spirituality in silver shapes. View them across the walls of the grand hall. Shiny mirrors reflect sunshine and the bells outside ring with every passing breeze.
The local guides recommend a day to DIY your own silverware jewelry. The artisan tent is nearby this silver temple. It’s the greatest keep-sake to have handmade crafts. After learning how to pound a slab of silver you will truely appreciate the artisanal craft of the masters. That’s when you walk to the temple to see the master piece.
Although, there was something particular about this temple scene that called out to me. The monk statue in the center of the yard had an essence of remembrance. It’s as if the figure was a friend from my past. The ESP gage has me inner knowing that his message to go up the mountain is the pinnacle of my trip here in Thailand.
Today, I have sat to draw his figure and portrait. A worthy two hour picnic under the century aged tamarind tree—it is like no other. As I draw, the temple yard comes alive. Bells are ringing in affirmation. Birds are flying and singing their messages. Dogs bark - people cycle - and I draw.
The figure talks through me. His spirit alive inside my mind. He’s telling me draw from this angle and get close to see the details. Our conversation completely telepathic. In light of his expertise in drawing the work I do turns out stunning. Each colour is carefully blended. The smooth faded edges are reminiscent of clouds. My friend appears through the pastel mirage.
