Hi everyone,
I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself a little more personally.
My name is Marie-Ève, and I’m the woman behind Carefree Companion.
Caring for and spending time with seniors has always felt close to my heart. My mom has worked as a healthcare aide in a large facility in Montreal for 27 years, and my aunt is preparing to retire this June after 30 years in the same kind of work. So in many ways, being around seniors, respecting them, listening to them, and understanding the importance of steady support has been part of my life for a long time.
I was also very close with my grandmother, and I think that shaped me more than I realized. Seniors have always had a special place in my heart. There is something about their stories, their humour, their honesty, and the way they deserve to be treated with patience and dignity that has always stayed with me.
Over the years, I’ve worked in different support roles, including hospital work, private caregiving, and helping people through the everyday things that can become harder with age or life changes.
The more I did this work, the more I noticed a real gap.
Not everyone needs full-time care.
Not everyone needs heavy housekeeping.
But many people still need someone steady, capable, and kind beside them.
That’s why I created Carefree Companion.
My goal is to help seniors and families with appointments, outings, errands, organizing, paperwork, family events, travel support, and the practical things that make life feel easier and less overwhelming.
I’m grateful to be building this here in our community, and I’m looking forward to connecting with more families who may need this kind of support.
Thank you for being here and following along.
Marie-Ève
