Be Here Now
"Could you possibly be here, wherever you are?" Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D., Mindfulness teacher and author.
Take this moment and be present. Inhabit your body and sense the sensations like the pulsing of your heart, the movement of your breath, the temperature of your hands or feet and the feeling of pressure, tension in your shoulders or perhaps the feeling of lightness vs. heaviness or tension. All of this is being present.
You are also here now when you are aware of your thoughts and how they change, floating in and out of your mind. Notice how they impact how your heart feels or how the sensations in your body lead to feelings of calmness or sadness, joy and so on.
Notice when someone is talking to you if your are present or are you having your own inner dialogue. All of this is important information that can lead to insight and wisdom.
It's called witnessing. We can grow and develop by being present. When you do a meditation like body scan, silent sitting meditation or a walking meditation be present to your breath, the sounds you hear and sometimes you may focus on images.
Most of all as you are observing, witnessing, focusing be compassionate to yourself as you learn to understand what gives you happiness.
Wishing you understanding, love and peace. Shanti. Shanti. Shanti.
