I believe it is safe to say that Summertime has arrived here in Southwestern Ontario. With a long winter in the rearview, and a soggy, dull Spring behind us, I am more than ready for sunshine, bearable humidity, and warmth.
Summer means different things to different people. Front porch sitting, memorable beach days, motorcycle ride days, ice cream cones, fishing trips, baseball games, fun afternoons at the waterpark, maybe a long scenic bike ride. Activities, people, and just being outside tends to calm the mind, lift the spirits, and strengthen the body it seems.
In the past week alone, I have had to stop in traffic for a family of Canada Geese, a snapping turtle, and just yesterday a family of ducks. In the moment, watching each make their way quickly, or in their own time, it was sweet to see that all traffic stopped and patiently waited – always reminds me of a childhood storybook “Make Way for Ducklings”. In the case of the turtle, a young dad stepped out and carried the little fella to safety as the roadside curbs were going to present a challenging hurdle.
Death works like that.
Each of us going about our business, living our lives, keeping to schedules and commitments, and then a sudden and unexpected stop.
As a husband, wife, or child experiences those first moments caused by that inevitable sudden stop of one’s life, it is often the person at arms – length, a daughter -in - law or a son -in - law with the emotional capacity to be the “runner”…. it is that individual asked to call the Provider of choice, on behalf of the executor or next of kin, to inform the Provider of the death, request their services, and to make the appointment to meet to provide information, signatures, and make some decisions.
Making Final Arrangements is an immediate necessity and an important responsibility.
Why do you call your Provider, Wareing Cremation Services, first?
Because you, in that moment, need someone to stop traffic; you need someone to get you safely and properly over the curb.
That first call is what puts you and your immediate family members on a stable path.
That first call ensures a respectful transfer of the deceased into care.
That first call gets you to a person and place that does the heavy lifting, provides a compass of sorts by answering your questions, concerns, Arrangement requirements, and helps you begin the process of making the turn in this road called life and the loss of someone you love and are responsible for.
