Meet Santana Kring, one of our St. John Ambulance instructors, from Sault Ste. Marie!

For the past three years, Santana has been helping students build the knowlede, skills, and confidence they need to respond when it matters most.

Santana brings so much more than knowledge to the classroom. She's warm, funny, approachable, and simply a great person to know - the kind of instructor who helps people feel comfortable while they learn.

What she enjoys most about teaching is seeing people become more confident - knowing that the skills they leave with could one day help save a life.

We're proud to have passionate instructors like Santana helping to strengthen our communities through first aid education.

Thank you, Santana, for everything you bring to the classroom!

Volunteering is about more than giving your time. It's about becoming part of something.

At St. John Ambulance, our volunteers come from different backgrounds, with different experiences and different reasons for getting involved. But they share something important - a desire to contribute to their community and be there when people need them.

Along the way, volunteering can become so much more.

It can mean new friendships, new skills, experiences you never expected, and the satisfaction of knowing that the time you give truly matters.

Whether you're looking to meet new people, learn something new, build your skills, or simply find a meaningful way to give back, there may be a place for you with St. John Ambulance.

Our volunteers help make communities across Northeastern Ontario stronger - and we're always happy to hear from people who are curious about getting involved.

Maybe volunteering is something you've been thinking about. Maybe this is your sign to ask.

๐ŸŒž Playgrounds are made for climbing, running, exploring, and having fun!

A little preparation can help keep those adventures safe. Before the kids race for the swings and slides, keep a few simple playground safety reminders in mind:

โœ” Check that equipment and surfaces aren't too hot from the sun
โœ” Make sure shoes are secure and clothing doesn't have loose strings
โœ” Choose equipment that's appropriate for your child's age and abilities
โœ” Bring water and remember those sunscreen breaks on hot days
โœ” Keep a small first aid kit nearby for those bumps, scrapes, and little mishaps

And of course, active supervision is one of the best ways to help children enjoy the playground safely.

We can't prevent every scraped knee - but a little practical knowledge and preparation can make a big difference.

Here's to more climbing, sliding, laughing, and safe adventures!

๐ŸŽ’ Heading back to school? Don't forget to pack a little peace of mind.

Whether you're heading off to college, university, or moving away from home for the first time, there's a lot to remember - books, chargers, clothes... and maybe a few comforts from home.

One thing that deserves a spot on the list? A first aid kit. ๐Ÿฉน

From small cuts and scrapes to blisters, minor burns, and those little mishaps that seem to happen at the worst possible time, having basic first aid supplies nearby can make a big difference.

A compact kit doesn't take up much room in a dorm, apartment, backpack, or vehicle - but you'll be glad it's there when you need it.

Add a first aid kit to your back-to-school checklist.

Visit your nearest St. John Ambulance branch to find the right kit for you.

Across Northeastern Ontario, preparedness starts with people who are ready to help.

From Timmins to North Bay, Sudbury to Sault Ste. Marie, St. John Ambulance is proud to support communities across the region through first aid training, safety educations, workplace preparedness, and community programs.

Every course taught means more people with the knowledge and skills to respond when it matters. Every workplace prepared, every family trained, and every community reached helps make Northeastern Ontario a little safer and stronger.

We may serve different communities, but we share one goal: helping people feel prepared to step forward when someone needs them.

๐ŸProudly supporting Northeastern Ontario - one community at a time.

Stay Safe: Tick Safety

Exploring Northern Ontario's forests, trails, parks, and campsites is one of the best parts of summer. But it's also important to be aware of ticks.

A few simple steps can help reduce your risk:
โœ” Check yourself, your children, and your pets after spending time outdoors
โœ” Remove ticks as soon as possible using a tick removal tool
โœ” Protect yourself by wearing long sleeves, long pants, and using insect repellent when you're in grassy or wooded areas.

Remember, in Northern Ontario, Blacklegged (Deer) Ticks are the primary tick species that may carry Lyme disease. Early detecton and prompt removal are important.

Being prepared isn't just about knowing first aid, it's about preventing injuries and illnesses before they happen.

Stay safe, enjoy our great outdoors, and don't forget to check your pets too!
