6 month after 𝐒𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐃𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐓𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐲 𝐓𝐮𝐜𝐤 ✔️ ⭐

This patient had major muscle separation after pregnancies and accumulated external fat (fat under the skin as opposed to visceral fat which is the fat under the abdominal muscles and around the organs).

Please note that this result is made possible by a precisely executed surgery on a patient with favorable pre-operative anatomy. Not every patient can have such a flat stomach after a tummy tuck with muscle repair.

How flat will your stomach be after a tummy tuck? It depends on the following factors:
𝟏 Distribution of the fat: external fat can be addressed with liposuction. However, visceral fat cannot and will remain after surgery. Excess visceral fat will make your abdomen more round, and weight loss may be necessary to improve the result.
𝟐 abdominal bloating: some patients have conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, intolerance like gluten intolerance, lactose intolerance, etc.… that can contribute to bloating that may be more visible after surgery and after muscle repair.
𝟑 Strength of the fascia and muscle: the fascia is the envelope of the muscles. It contributes to the support of the abdominal wall along with muscle strength. If the fascia loses its strength, the organs will have less support, and the abdomen will be more prominent. The fascia is sutured along with the muscle when muscle repair is performed. Still, if the fascia is weak, the support will not be optimal even after muscle repair, contributing to some degree of abdominal prominence. ⁣⁣⁣⁣⠀⠀

When asked about the highlight of his career, Dr. Boudana doesn’t hesitate — being part of a full facial transplant surgery in France in 2010.

During his training in France, Dr. Boudana had the opportunity to be part of a highly specialized reconstructive surgery team working on one of the most complex procedures in plastic surgery: a full facial transplant.

Unlike conventional reconstructive surgery, a facial transplant involves transplanting multiple types of tissue — including skin, muscles, nerves and blood vessels — and reconnecting them using microsurgical techniques. The goal is not only to restore appearance, but also important functions such as facial movement, sensation and the ability to eat and communicate.

Being part of a surgery of this magnitude gave Dr. Boudana an experience that would stay with him throughout his career. It was a powerful example of how plastic and reconstructive surgery can go far beyond aesthetics — and how advanced surgical techniques can help transform a patient's life.

Can patients with a higher BMI still benefit from a tummy tuck? Yes — but the result may look different. 👇🏼

In this video, Dr. Boudana explains that a tummy tuck can remove excess skin and tissue, which may make the abdomen more functional and improve mobility and comfort for some patients.

However, a tummy tuck does not remove visceral fat — the fat located inside the abdominal cavity around the organs. Because of this, patients with higher levels of visceral fat may still have some abdominal roundness after surgery rather than achieving a completely flat stomach.
