Grateful eyes on this American Thanksgiving! ๐Ÿฆƒ ๐ŸŒพ๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿ As a Canadian optometrist, I'm thankful for the gift of sight that transcends borders. Just like the importance of a well-balanced feast, let's feast our eyes on good habitsโ€”regular eye exams, proper screen time, and UV protection. Wishing you a feast for the eyes and a Happy Thanksgiving! ๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿ‘๏ธ

Happy Saturday Y'all! Halloween is upon us and many people may have already seen the eye dyes popping up on social media.

Eye dyes are tempting for their cosmetic allure, but they are dangerous to your eyes and can lead to many issues.

They can scratch the sensitive cornea, leading to painful corneal abrasions, they can cause infections leading to serious issues, they can cause visual impairment or an allergic reaction, or even cause cumulative harm, potentially leading to permanent vision problems.

Your eyes are irreplaceable, and the risks of eye dye aren't worth it. This Halloween, make a choice that protects your vision and ensures your safety.

Happy Friday Y'all!
With Halloween activities coming up this weekend, I would like to shed some light on a pressing issue: the dangers of using Halloween contact lenses without proper care and guidance.

Getting creative with costumes can be fun and these lenses offer people some extra flair to their costumes but it comes at the price of sacrificing your eye health, and it just isn't worth it!

Here's why it's a no-no!

1. Infection Risk: Poorly fitted lenses can cause serious eye infections.
2. Reduced Oxygen Flow: Some lenses can restrict oxygen to your cornea, leading to discomfort and complications.
3. Scratched Corneas: Rough, low-quality lenses can cause painful scratches.
4. Vision Impairment: Blurred vision is no fun and can actually lead to permanent vision loss!

Any contacts should always be fit with your optometrist! Don't put your eye health at risk!

Happy Tuesday yโ€™all! Iโ€™ve been travelling and I ended up on Kos island, Greece. This is where the great physician Hippocrates, often referred to as the "Father of Medicine" began his journey.

He emphasized the importance of understanding eye health as a crucial aspect of overall well-being.

The Asklepieion was an ancient healing sanctuary dedicated to Asklepios, the god of healing. Here, ancient practitioners like Hippocrates believed in the holistic approach to healthcare, including eye care.

Just as they did in ancient times, doctors are dedicated to preserving and improving our vision, ensuring that we see the world with clarity and precision.

๐Ÿค“ Let's continue the legacy of Hippocrates by valuing our eye health and seeking regular check-ups! ๐Ÿ‘€
