Trying to lose body fat but still want to eat a satisfying amount of food? Add buttercup squash to your meals! 🎃

One cup of mashed buttercup squash is only about 88 calories, compared with around 205 calories for one cup of cooked white rice.

But it’s not just about calories. Buttercup squash gives you a lot of food volume for relatively few calories, which can help make your meals feel more satisfying when you’re eating in a calorie deficit.

And that’s one of my biggest fat-loss tips: don’t just focus on eating less—build meals that help you manage hunger while keeping calories under control. 💪
Rice absolutely has a place in a balanced diet (I eat it too!), but during a fat-loss phase, simple swaps like this can make staying within your calorie target a whole lot easier.

NEW VIDEO! 💪🌱 High-Protein Meal Prep for the Week

Come meal prep with me! This week I’m showing you how I prep a variety of high-protein plant-based foods at the same time so I have plenty of options ready to mix and match throughout the week.

We’re making crispy tofu patties, roasted vegetables, Tiramisu overnight oats, edamame & pea hummus, kale salad, a creamy pumpkin dessert and more. 😋
I’ll also show you how I turn everything into complete meals and share the calories + protein along the way.

If getting enough protein feels complicated, I hope this gives you some new ideas and shows you that meal prep doesn’t have to mean eating the exact same meal every day!

Trying to make your meals more filling without adding a lot of calories? Cabbage is one of my favorite high-volume foods to add to meals during a fat-loss phase.

Here’s a simple way I cook cabbage and turn it into a flavorful side. I paired it with a high-protein plant-based meal and finished it with a low-calorie soy yogurt dressing for a meal that’s filling, satisfying and packed with volume.

Hey friends,
New video is up! 💪
If I wanted to lose body fat without losing the muscle I’ve worked hard to build, this is exactly how I’d eat.

I’m showing you how I would build my meals during a fat-loss phase — from protein and carbs to high-volume foods, fats and sauces — plus the simple swaps I’d make to keep calories under control without eating tiny portions or walking around hungry all day.

Especially for women over 40, the goal shouldn’t simply be to get smaller. Get strong. Build muscle. And protect that muscle for your future. 💪

Comparison really is the thief of joy.

I’ve been strength training consistently for 6+ years, and at 45, I still sometimes look at physiques online and feel like mine isn’t impressive enough.

Then I remind myself of what my body can DO.

10 pull-ups.
25 push-ups.
Lifting weights I never imagined I’d be capable of lifting.

I’m sharing this because I know I’m not the only one who does this.

Your progress is more than how your body looks. Strength, capability and what your body allows you to do matter too.

Don’t compare your everyday self to someone else’s highlight reel. ❤️

More sets don’t automatically mean more muscle. 💪

At 45, I’ve actually reduced my training volume. For many exercises, I focus on fewer high-quality working sets, train close to failure, progressively get stronger, and—just as importantly—make sure I’m recovering.

The goal isn’t to do as much as possible. It’s to do enough to create the stimulus, recover, and keep progressing.

If you’re working on building muscle, getting stronger, or improving your body composition, I have structured home + gym workout programs and high-protein plant-based meal plans available at strongwithneesha.com 🌱💪

🍫 NEW VIDEO! I made my own high-protein bars!
Most protein bars have one problem: they’re either high in calories, low in protein, or they sacrifice taste.

So I made my own. 💪 15g of protein per bar, crispy, chocolatey and peanut buttery—and I tested two different versions so you can choose the one that works best for your goals and preferences.

Full recipe + macros are also linked in the video description. ❤️

Just because something is made with healthy ingredients doesn’t automatically make it high-protein. 👀

**Correction - I meant to say pumpkin seeds not sunflower seeds. Calculation is based on pumpkin seeds!**

And to be clear—this is NOT about putting down this creator or this recipe. I actually love both pumpkin seeds and dark chocolate, and they can absolutely be part of a healthy diet.

But I see this a lot in the plant-based space: we sometimes focus so much on whether individual ingredients are “healthy” that we forget to look at what the overall meal or snack actually provides.

If your goal is building muscle or body recomposition, look beyond the ingredient list. How much protein are you actually getting? How many calories? Does it fit YOUR goals?
Healthy food is great—but context matters. 💪🌱
