When a su***de affects a Muslim community, our response should begin with mercy, dignity, and care.

Support the grieving family without speculation, blame, or public debate about the deceased’s fate. Show up with compassion, practical help, du’a, and continued care beyond the first few days.

Faith and professional support can work together. Trusted imams, Muslim chaplains, licensed therapists, grief groups, and crisis services all have a role.

If someone may be in immediate danger, contact local emergency services or a crisis line in your country.

Join us live as Dr. Mehr Karamat (Psychiatrist & Keynote Speaker) and Sana Huda (Registered Psychotherapist) explore faith, mental health, stigma, and grief through both an Islamic and psychological lens.

Depression is more than feeling sad, and noticing the warning signs can make a real difference. A caring conversation, patient listening, and connection to professional support can help someone feel less alone.

If you’re worried about someone, ask directly, listen without judgment, and help them connect with support. If you may act on thoughts of su***de or someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services. Find local crisis support at findahelpline.com.

A conversation we need to have.

How can we talk about su***de, mental health, and faith with honesty, compassion, and less shame?

Join us for an upcoming Instagram Live with Sana Huda, Registered Psychotherapist, and Dr. Mehr Karamat, Psychiatrist, as they explore the space where Islamic faith and mental health care meet.

We’ll be discussing how to support ourselves and our communities while honouring both spiritual wellbeing and professional care.

Event details coming soon. Save this post and follow for updates.

You never really know what someone is carrying behind the version of them that keeps showing up.

High-functioning suicidal thoughts can exist alongside going to work, caring for family, answering messages, laughing, and staying connected online. Functioning is not the same thing as feeling okay.

Check in on the people who seem “fine.” Make room for honest answers. And if you’re the one struggling, you don’t have to wait until things look visibly bad to deserve support. 🤍

If you’re experiencing suicidal thoughts or feel unsafe, please reach out to a trusted person, mental health professional, or crisis service in your area.

Stress doesn’t always look like fear or sadness. Sometimes it looks like anger, irritability, numbness, restlessness, or feeling unable to switch off.

After repeated exposure to high-stress or traumatic situations, the nervous system can stay in “on” mode, even when the immediate danger has passed. This doesn’t mean you’re weak. It may mean your body has been carrying more than it used to.

This post is a starting point for understanding how stress can show up, especially for people working in high-pressure roles. Recognizing the signs can make it easier to seek support, start a conversation, and begin returning to a sense of safety.

Join Karl Wright and Lana Boland for an open conversation about stress, support, and what happens behind the badge.

Have a question? Drop it in the comments on our main Behind the Badge post and we may bring it into the conversation tonight. 👇🏼

Therapists are humans too.

They can care deeply about their clients and still have difficult days, personal struggles, unanswered questions, and moments when they need support themselves.

Needing supervision, a break, boundaries, or someone to sit with us doesn’t make us less capable of helping. It makes us human.

Mental health care isn’t only something we encourage our clients to practise. It’s something we need to make space for in ourselves, too.

Check in on the therapists, counsellors, social workers, physicians, and other helpers in your life.

Not because they’re fragile.
Because they’re human.
