Seeking support is a courageous step, and finances should not be the only factor that determines whether someone receives care.

At Happy Hearts Counselling Services, we offer a limited number of sliding scale therapy spots for individuals who may be experiencing financial barriers but still want consistent support for their mental health.

Sliding scale means that therapy fees are adjusted based on financial circumstances, helping make therapy more accessible while still allowing us to sustain quality care. Our sliding scale includes three tiers, designed to support individuals experiencing different levels of financial strain. Availability is limited and requires a short eligibility form.

When stress, anxiety, anger, or any intense emotion shows up, your breath can become a simple tool to help calm the nervous system and bring your body back into balance. Just a few mindful breaths can begin to shift how your body feels.

Hello 2026! At Happy Hearts Counselling Services, we believe healing begins with acceptance, compassion, and honouring your inner voice. This year, we are choosing self-love without conditions. We are choosing a year of gentleness. Gentle with our thoughts, our emotions, and our journey.

We are reminding ourselves that growth does not require perfection; it requires kindness, patience, and the courage to show up for ourselves again and again. Together let’s remind ourselves: I am enough. My voice matters. I am worthy of love and respect.

Earlier this month, we held our very first She Matters women’s health workshop, and the experience was truly grounding and powerful. The space was filled with honesty, reflection, and a shared understanding of what it means to navigate stress, expectations, and burnout as women.

We explored how stress shows up in the body and mind, and the subtle signs of burnout that often go unnoticed when we’re used to pushing through. More importantly, we talked about boundaries, self-compassion, and what it looks like to gently reclaim our energy without guilt or pressure to do more. This can feel challenging to do in various communities.

What made this workshop so meaningful was the reminder that women don’t need fixing, we need space. Space to pause, to be seen, to feel validated, and to reconnect with ourselves. She Matters was about coming back home to your body, your needs, and your worth.

Thank you to every woman who showed up, shared, listened, and helped create such a supportive and empowering environment. This was just the beginning, and there is so much more to come đź’›

The winter holidays can be beautiful, meaningful, and deeply connective, but it can also be heavy. This season often brings increased expectations, busy schedules, family dynamics, financial stress, grief, or pressure to feel joyful even when you’re running on empty. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or emotionally tired, know you’re not alone, & nothing is wrong with you.

Self-care during the holidays does not have to look perfect or be productive. Sometimes it’s saying no, taking breaks, letting go of traditions that no longer serve you, or allowing yourself to feel exactly what you are feeling without judgment. Rest is still productive. Boundaries are still loving. And slowing down does not mean you are a failure, it’s a form of care.

So during this time, remember that your mental health matters just as much as the celebrations around you. You don’t need to show up everywhere, fix everything, or carry everyone else’s emotions. You are allowed to protect your energy, honour your needs, and choose softness where you can. Be gentle with yourself this season, because You Matter.
