It's Julie Marquis Hi, I’m Julie. Some call me the No BS Therapist, or Jules for short.

Rest isn’t scrolling while replaying the days events in your head or even playing games at the end of the day. You’re still in a state performance and that’s not rest. That’s draining.

Are you actually resting…or just pausing the stress until morning?

Real emotional regulation is about flexibility, recovery, and how you respond under pressure, not how well you suppress stress.

Swipe through to understand what it actually looks like in practice and what it doesn’t.

Healthy leadership lives in the space between trigger and response.
Emotional regulation isn’t about having no emotion. It’s about having the capacity to pause, process, and respond intentionally under pressure.

⏰ Your response time changes everything.

The goal isn’t to feel less.
It’s to recover faster.
To stay flexible under pressure.
To respond instead of react.
It’s about increasing your window of tolerance.

If you’re always “fine,” it may be worth asking whether you’re actually regulated… or just disconnected.

What’s one sign you notice in yourself when stress starts taking over?

Emotional regulation is the most underrated leadership skill.
Not because leaders don’t have emotions but because most have learned to contain them rather than regulate them.

There’s a big difference between the two and I guarantee your team knows if you know the difference too!

Tired and depleted are not the same thing. Confusing the two is why so many of us keep spinning our wheels trying to “fix” how we feel. 😮‍💨

Sleep can be helpful when we’re actually tired. But depletion? That’s your emotional, cognitive, and physical reserves running on empty and no amount of early nights or beach holidays is going to touch it.

The first step is simply knowing the difference. 💡

If you don’t assess readiness, you’re just applying pressure.

Most leaders were never taught this. They were just told to “treat everyone fairly”.

But the truth is….fair leadership isn’t uniform leadership.

The best managers I’ve seen don’t have one style. They read the room, read the person, and adjust accordingly. That’s not favoritism. That’s situational leadership. And the reason it works is because it’s rooted in the same principles that make therapy, coaching, and any real human development effective:

🔄 People aren’t interchangeable.
🛑 Stop leading like they are.

The most underrated leadership skill no one talks about.

Knowing what you want is one thing.
Knowing what your team is actually ready for? 🎯 That’s next level. That’s sustainable.

The best leaders meet their people where they are and build the bridge to where they need to go.

Share it with a leader who needs to hear it!

True leadership isn’t about lowering the bar. It’s about building the ladder.

When we build and plan our growth intentionally, we don’t have to settle for less. It’s about creating the conditions that allow ourselves and our team to increase their capacity and decrease the likelihood of burnout.

Your team doesn’t need easier standards. They need a clearer path to meet them.

Most leadership problems aren’t about effort. It’s comes down to knowing your team and their capabilities.

We push for consistency, when what people actually need is accuracy.
We label capacity gaps as motivation issues.
And we forget that pressure without readiness doesn’t build growth. It builds protection.

Real leadership isn’t about treating everyone the same. It’s about seeing what each person is actually ready for, and responding accordingly. Compliance might look good short-term, but capacity is what sustains under pressure.
