🌶️🍯 THE viral hot honey beef bowl. honestly, viral for a reason.

This combo has EVERYTHING: crispy sweet potato, seasoned beef, creamy cottage cheese + avocado, and that sweet + spicy hot honey drizzle. 🤤

And yes, a viral bowl can absolutely fit into a heart-healthy way of eating.

✨ Hot Honey Beef Bowls
Serves 2

Ingredients
• 1 large sweet potato, cubed
• 250–300 g lean ground beef
• ½ avocado, sliced
• ½ cup cottage cheese
• 1–2 tbsp hot honey
• 1 tsp olive oil
• ½ tsp garlic powder
• ½ tsp smoked paprika
• Salt + pepper

Method

1. Toss sweet potato with olive oil, salt, pepper + smoked paprika. Roast at 425°F / 220°C for 25–30 min, flipping halfway, until golden and crispy.
2. Meanwhile, brown the lean ground beef in a pan. Season with garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt + pepper.
3. Add cottage cheese to your bowl, then layer in the crispy sweet potato, beef + avocado.
4. Drizzle with hot honey and finish with chili flakes, green onion or cilantro. 🌶️🍯

🫀Heart-health tip: I love this bowl because it combines protein with fibre- and nutrient-rich plant foods. Sweet potato and avocado add fibre and potassium, while avocado also provides heart-friendly unsaturated fats. Choosing lean beef and keeping the bowl veggie-forward helps keep the overall balance in check.

Save this one for your next weeknight dinner!

Helpful tips to deal with the current smoke exposure in Toronto.

Check out this post for my personal choices to support myself - as always, this is not medical advice and might not work for you.

In addition to that, looking at nutrition, I’ve been increasing detoxifying dark leafy greens, I’ve been adding a binder, chlorophyll to my lemon water, been keeping sugar and dairy consumption down and made sure to have a daily herbal tea with expectorant qualities (this means these herbs help you get rid of mucous). Check slide 4 for a list of supportive herbs. Staying hydrated is also key so you can flush out any toxins. Purifying your air and/or using essential oils in your home may be beneficial as well.
I hope this post was helpful - save for later, just in case we have to deal with this a little longer.

Why CoQ10 matters for energy + heart health
CoQ10 is a compound your body naturally produces to help generate cellular energy—
but levels decline with age, stress, and certain medications (like statins).
Since your heart requires a significant amount of energy to function optimally,
supporting CoQ10 levels can be an important piece of the puzzle.
As a heart health nutritionist, I like incorporating a high-quality CoQ10,
like the one from Orange Naturals, as part of a foundational heart health routine.
