Healing cannot and will never be instant, sometimes it shows up quietly, in a tear you didn’t expect or a smile that surprised you. Trust the process. Trust your body. Trust this moment.

This connects to a trauma response called fawning which is the pattern of over-giving, people-pleasing, and prioritising others as a way to feel safe or avoid conflict.

It usually develops in childhood as a survival strategy. Fawning doesn’t mean you were weak. It means you adapted. Now, The work is in learning that you are safe enough now to have boundaries and that the right people won’t require you to abandon yourself to stay.

Many people minimise their own suffering because deep down they don’t fully believe they deserve help.

This is especially common in people who were taught directly or indirectly that their problems weren’t serious enough to warrant attention.

Your pain does not need to reach a certain level to be valid. You do not need to be at rock bottom to deserve support. You needed help the moment it started hurting.

In psychology this is called introjection when you absorb other people’s projections and start wearing them as your own truth. “You’re too sensitive” is often a deflection.

It shifts focus away from someone else’s discomfort and places it on your expression. Your sensitivity is not the problem. It never was. It just ended up in the wrong rooms.

In psychology this is called high-functioning depression.

The person maintains their social role like being funny, capable, present while internally experiencing persistent emptiness, low motivation, and emotional exhaustion.

Because they look fine, they rarely get asked if they’re okay. And because nobody asks, they rarely tell. Check on your strong friends.

They have gotten very good at performing okay.

Comment “I SEE YOU” if this resonates.

This is a pattern called self-abandonment. It develops in people who grew up in environments where their emotional needs were ignored, dismissed, or made to feel like too much.

Over time the brain learns that expressing needs is either unsafe or pointless, so it stops. You become an expert at holding everyone else while quietly falling apart alone.

You were never too much. You were just never shown that your needs mattered too.

When you grow up feeling unsafe, your brain adapts. It stays on high alert scanning, bracing, waiting for something to go wrong because at some point, that’s what keeps you protected.

The good news is that the brain is not fixed and With the right support, those patterns can shift.

Confidence vs. Self-Esteem: What’s the difference? 🧠

02/10/2026

Therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all and that’s actually great news 🤍

If therapy didn’t work for you before, that doesn’t mean YOU failed or that therapy doesn’t work. It might just mean you haven’t found the right approach or therapist yet.

There are so many types:
• CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) - changes thought patterns
• DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) - teaches emotional regulation skills
• EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) - processes trauma
• Somatic therapy - works through the body
• ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) - builds psychological flexibility
• Psychodynamic therapy - explores unconscious patterns
Plus, personalities matter. Some therapists are gentle, some are direct, some give homework, some focus on insight.

You’re allowed to say ‘this isn’t working’ and try something else. That’s not quitting that’s knowing yourself 💚
