I’m incredibly excited to share that I’m beginning a new chapter in my career at Canisius University in Buffalo, NY, as a full-time university professor of Kinesiology.
After years of working as a chiropractor and building my career through clinical practice, this transition feels like a natural progression. My years in practice have given me the clinical experience, perspective, and understanding of patient care that I can now bring into the classroom.
In this new role, I’ll have the privilege of helping educate and prepare the next generation of healthcare professionals. For many students, Kinesiology is the foundation they will build upon as they pursue careers as physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, physician assistants, nurses, chiropractors, and other healthcare professionals. Being entrusted with their pre-health education is something I take incredibly seriously. The knowledge, habits, values, and perspective students develop during these formative years can ultimately influence the kind of healthcare professionals and the kind of people they become.
I’m especially excited to begin this journey at Canisius University, where I deeply admire the Catholic and Jesuit tradition and its commitment to educating the whole person. I look forward to bringing Jesuit pedagogy into healthcare education by encouraging students not only to become excellent scientists and clinicians, but compassionate human beings who approach their future professions with charity, discernment, service, and a commitment to social justice.
Healthcare is ultimately about people. It is about meeting individuals in moments of vulnerability, serving communities, advocating for those who need it, and using our knowledge in pursuit of something greater than ourselves. I’m excited to help instill that perspective in the next generation.
From clinician, to clinician-educator. From caring for patients one-on-one, to helping prepare the healthcare professionals who will care for thousands of patients in the years to come.
