My life path has not been conventional. I have been called different, yet I have always been able to make connections with people who are different than me. Is it inclusion on their part, or my ability to stay in connection even when it’s uncomfortable?
What makes connection uncomfortable is my capacity to share my space and my energy. Kindness is the foundation to share that energy. It is the first thing I notice about anyone. I love being kind, even if it might not show up as others expect. To me, kindness is an intentional act. It’s the ability to make others feel seen and heard.
Lately, I watch in my community where I feel only included if my behavior is in alignment with others. But true inclusion is accepting our differences and to be able to show grace. I want to include you in my life.
I was told by my dear friends that I have high standards. I do have a standard. It’s of kindness shown to me or others in my presence. That is my standard of love. Kindness for me is as important as love. Love is a form of kindness.
Ultimately, my inclusion is dependent on another person's capacity to show kindness to me. Including is showing that love of others connection is a gift to each other.
