KARBALIOTIS Calliroe ( Lois)

With sorrow we announce the passing of our devoted mother and grandmother, Callie(Lois) Karbaliotis neé Eliacopoulos, on October 10, 2026 at Hillsdale Terrace in Oshawa Ontario, at the age of 100. She will be missed by family and friends.
Lois is survived by her sons, Constantine (Helen) and Panagiotis; granddaughter Calleroi (Mike) and grandson Nicolas; sister-in-law Ritsa (Abe) and niece Eleni (Michael), niece Evgenia (Kimon), and nephews Yanni, Costa, Evgenios and Dino. She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Nicholas in 2010; her parents, Panagiotis and Elpitha, and sisters Politimi, Estathia, and her brother George, and her niece Panagiota and nephew Athanasios.
Born June 6, 1926 at Loutro, Messinia, Greece where she worked on her parents’ farm, among the olive groves, and took care of her own grandparents. She survived the hardships of the occupation during the war, and then later emigrated to Alberta in the early 1950’s. Lois worked in many roles, and was a skilled seamstress; she sponsored her husband Nick to come to Canada, and they married in 1960. In addition to running her household and raising her two sons, she helped her husband’s shoe repair at the till, and in Edmonton she was famous as a cook, dress maker, and for making her own w**e – anything Lois turned her hand to, she did with excellence. All who met Lois were enriched by her love, her humour, and her many stories.

We thank our family, friends, and colleagues for their support, and wish to express our thanks to the staff of Hillsdale Terrace for their care of Lois.

DIMOULKAS ( Anastasios) Tom,

TOM (ANASTASIOS) DIMOULKAS March 5, 1941 – October 7, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Tom on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at the age of 85.
Tom was born in the village of Xino Nero, near Florina in Northern Greece. In 1964, he and his wife Argiro left Greece for Canada and built a new life together in Toronto. Over the years he worked in many trades, from the w**ery in Florina to running a restaurant and delivering bread, and he went on to become a successful real estate owner and manager.
What defined Tom most was his heart for people. He loved to help with anything, for anyone. He could fix or build almost anything, he stayed close to family near and far, and above all he loved connecting with others and lending a hand however he could.
He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife Argiro; his children Helen, Nick and Peter; his grandchildren Michael, Cruz, Theo, Vera, Zoe and Elle; and many relatives and friends in Canada and Greece.

followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m.

Afterwards, the family warmly invites everyone to join them for the makaria at Floga Estiatorio, 1957 Kennedy Road, Scarborough.

5 Μαρτίου 1941 – 7 Οκτωβρίου 2026
Με βαθύτατη θλίψη αναγγέλλουμε ότι ο πολυαγαπημένος μας σύζυγος, πατέρας και παππούς Αναστάσιος Ντιμούλκας, από το Ξινό Νερό Φλώρινας, εκοιμήθη ειρηνικά την Τετάρτη 7 Οκτωβρίου 2026 στο Τορόντο, σε ηλικία 85 ετών.
Ήρθε στον Καναδά το 1964 μαζί με τη σύζυγό του Αργυρώ. Εργάστηκε σκληρά σε πολλές δουλειές, από το οινοποιείο στη Φλώρινα έως το εστιατόριο, τη διανομή ψωμιού και τη διαχείριση ακινήτων. Αγαπούσε να βοηθά τους ανθρώπους, να επισκευάζει και να φτιάχνει, και πάνω απ’ όλα να κρατά επαφή με την οικογένεια και τους φίλους του.
Τον αποχαιρετούν με βαθύ πόνο:

ROUVAS Demetrios,

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Demetrios Rouvas, devoted husband to Sofia Rouvas and loving father to his daughters, Theodora and Soultana Rouvas.
Demetrios was born on October 4, 1953, in Kleisoura, Kastoria, Greece. In 1970, he came to Canada, where he built a life rooted in family, hard work, music, and the many interests that brought him happiness.
Throughout his working life, Demetrios was a skilled furrier, but music also held a special place in his heart. A talented keyboardist, he played with the Greek band Parea, sharing his love of music and his Greek heritage with others.
Demetrios had a wonderful curiosity for life. He loved fishing and biking, and he was an enthusiastic collector of many different things. Whether enjoying the outdoors, playing music, discovering something new for his collection, or simply spending time with those closest to him, he found joy in the things that made life uniquely his.
Above all, Demetrios was a husband and father. His life and memory will forever remain a part of his wife Sofia and his daughters, Theodora and Soultana. The stories, music, memories, and love he leaves behind will continue to live in the hearts of his family and all those who knew him.
Demetrios will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever in our hearts.

(𝐓𝐨𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐨, 𝐎𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐨) His Eminence Archbishop Apostolos of Canada announces the appointment of His Grace Bishop Athenagoras of Patara as Spiritual Advisor to the National Philoptochos of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Canada.

In this new capacity, His Grace will provide spiritual guidance and pastoral support to the National Philoptochos of Canada, working closely with its President, Board of Directors, and members to further strengthen and develop its philanthropic and ecclesiastical ministry throughout Canada.

His Grace Bishop Athenagoras of Patara has served as an Auxiliary Bishop of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Canada since 2020. In addition to his episcopal ministry, he serves as Dean of the Patriarchal Toronto Orthodox Theological Academy, contributing to the theological education and spiritual formation of the future clergy of the Church.

On the occasion of the appointment, His Eminence Archbishop Apostolos of Canada stated:

“Philoptochos is a living expression of the love and philanthropic ministry of our Church. I thank His Grace Bishop Athenagoras of Patara for accepting this new responsibility, and I am confident that his pastoral experience will contribute greatly to the spiritual strengthening of the National Philoptochos of Canada. May God bless and strengthen the ministry of all its members.”

His Eminence wished His Grace Bishop Athenagoras every blessing and strength in his new ministry and expressed his paternal gratitude to the President, Board of Directors, and all members of the National Philoptochos of Canada for their dedicated service to the Church and to those in need.

(Τορόντο, Οντάριο) Ο Σεβασμιώτατος Αρχιεπίσκοπος Καναδά κ. Απόστολος ανακοινώνει τον διορισμό του Θεοφιλεστάτου Επισκόπου Πατάρων κ. Αθηναγόρα ως Πνευματικού Συμβούλου της Εθνικής Φιλοπτώχου Αδελφότητος της Ιεράς Αρχιεπισκοπής Καναδά.

Με τη νέα αυτή ιδιότητα, ο Θεοφιλέστατος θα προσφέρει πνευματική καθοδήγηση και ποιμαντική στήριξη στην Εθνική Φιλόπτωχο Αδελφότητα Καναδά, συνεργαζόμενος στενά με την Πρόεδρο, το Διοικητικό Συμβούλιο και τα μέλη της για την περαιτέρω ενίσχυση και ανάπτυξη του φιλανθρωπικού και εκκλησιαστικού της έργου σε ολόκληρο τον Καναδά.

Παράλληλα με την αρχιερατική του διακονία, υπηρετεί ως Διευθυντής της Πατριαρχικής Ορθοδόξου Θεολογικής Ακαδημίας Τορόντο, συμβάλλοντας στη θεολογική εκπαίδευση και την πνευματική κατάρτιση των μελλοντικών κληρικών της Εκκλησίας.

Με αφορμή τον διορισμό, ο Σεβασμιώτατος Αρχιεπίσκοπος Καναδά κ. Απόστολος δήλωσε:

«Η Φιλόπτωχος αποτελεί ζωντανή έκφραση της αγάπης και της φιλανθρωπικής διακονίας της Εκκλησίας μας. Ευχαριστώ τον Θεοφιλέστατο Επίσκοπο Πατάρων κ. Αθηναγόρα για την αποδοχή αυτής της νέας ευθύνης και είμαι βέβαιος ότι η ποιμαντική του εμπειρία θα συμβάλει ουσιαστικά στην πνευματική ενίσχυση του έργου της Φιλοπτώχου Αδελφότητος Καναδά. It was a privilege for our team at Orthodox Church Funeral Services to attend the ordination of Christos Bourolias to the diaconate at Annunciation of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Cathedral.

This blessed occasion marked the first ordination celebrated by His Eminence Archbishop Apostolos of Canada. We were honoured to join the clergy, family, and faithful in prayer as Deacon Christos begins his ministry.

May God grant him strength, wisdom, and grace as he serves Christ and His Church.

NIKOLAKAKIS Ekaterini,

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ekaterini Nikolakakis, who left us peacefully on September 28, 2026, at the age of 82. Born in Gerani, Crete, Greece, Ekaterini immigrated to Toronto, Canada, in the mid 1960s, where she built a life rooted in family, hard work, and generosity.

Ekaterini was a devoted wife to Andreas, beloved mother to George and Helen (Joe) and proud grandmother to Iolanda (Simon), Katherine (Rory) and Zachary. She will be remembered for her boundless generosity, humility, selflessness, deep love for family, hardworking spirit, and thoughtful, quiet demeanour that allowed her kindness to speak for itself.
For decades, Ekaterini brought joy to her family through her dedication and devotion within the home in the role of wife, mother and grandmother that reflected her love for her family in her desire to ensure everyone was well cared for. This concern for others reached further her than her immediate family and touched many of her extended family and friends. Her kindness left a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

A woman of strong Greek Orthodox faith, Ekaterini lived her life guided by compassion and quiet strength.

In lieu of flowers, a cash box will be available at the service for donations to be directed toward The Annunciation of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Cathedral and a children's charity, in loving memory of Ekaterini’s lifelong dedication to bringing happiness to others

LYRAS Joanne,

In Loving Memory

It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Joanne Lyras (née Maimonis) on September 24, 2026, at the age of 73.
Born in Vresthena, Sparta, Greece, in 1952, Joanne immigrated to Canada, where she built a beautiful life alongside the love of her life, Eythemios Lyras. Together, they shared 51 wonderful years of marriage filled with love, devotion, and family.
Joanne was a devoted mother to her children, predeceased John (Georgina), Mary (Ezio), Costa. She was a cherished and loving Yiayia to her granddaughter, Sofia, whom she adored beyond measure.
She was a loving sister to George (Effie) and a proud, doting Thea to their children, Kosta (Jessica) and Ricky.
Joanne was also a caring sister-in-law to Eleftherios (Anna), Eleni and the late Nick, and Antonios (Angela). She was a beloved Thea to their children: John (Lisa), Maria (Elias), Stacey (Jim), Mary, Maria (James), and John. She was also a loving Cousin, Thea to her extended family in both Canada and Greece.
Joanne found great joy in helping her family and took immense pride in caring for the laundromat with her husband.
She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and baking, and was happiest when caring for those she loved.
A loving, generous, caring, and selfless woman, Joanne was truly the embodiment of a salt-of-the-earth person. She always put her family first and went above and beyond for each and every one of them. She was a proud wife, mother, and yiayia who devoted her life to the people she loved most.
Though she is no longer with us physically, the love she shared and the lessons she taught will remain in our hearts forever. Her kindness, generosity, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family will continue to live on through all who knew and loved her.
Now reunited in paradise with her beloved son, Joanne can rest peacefully, knowing how deeply she was loved and how greatly she will be missed.
We will love you forever and always.
