serendipitously started doing this on the aries new moon, writing a thousand unedited words a day for thirty days (publicly). i thought it would be a good way to keep my pen moving and do something creative for myself so as not to get lost in diapers and binging early 2000s tv shows, but it has turned out to be a practice in courage, consistency, and resistance.

every day i autowrite straight into substack, sometimes in few hundred words parts if i have to get up to nunu, sometimes in one go, but as soon as i feel the end of each i add a photo, a subscribe button, and now a short title, the first thing that comes to mind without rereading, just based on the leftover sense so that i don’t feel compelled to edit or change anything. then i hit publish (or continue and add the hashtags i can remember then publish), and i don’t reread what i’ve written, i haven’t reread a single one yet (which makes promoting them more difficult because i’d have to reread each one to find its most shareable bits). the challenge is to wait until the 30 days are up to reread them all together.

today is yet unwritten day 13 and 13 being one of my favorite numbers and my favorite prime i would like to invite you to so this challenge with me. it has opened up a flow on multiple levels for me, and brought me closer to myself and the world around me, and i think it can do the same for you 🫶🏼

our first lesson on nigredo was released this week in alchemy 101, and we’re starting with the rawest of raw materials: our everyday triggers, our shadows, our “filth” as jung would put it.

since not all of us who were interested were able to join this year and enrollment is now closed, i thought it might be helpful to share some of the hacks we’re working on so you can save them and keep them in your own alchemical toolkit ✨

if you’re still very new to alchemy and aren’t sure what nigredo is or if you’re in it but you’re curious, i have a FREE alchemy gateway course at the link in my bio, where i explain the basics of the alchemical stages and help you figure out what stage you’re at, where you wanna go next, and how to do it, to work with your circumstances rather than struggle against them. it comes with a workbook and everything and will only take you 30-40 mins to get through 🫶🏼

esoteric, spiritual, and alchemical philosophy has been a love of mine since i was very young (like 6 years old, when the first harry potter book came out). i didn’t discover the arab alchemists until later, during my master’s, when i decided to pursue alchemical studies in more depth, and it really enriched my whole understanding of spirituality, magic, and colonial erasure (arab alchemists are rarely credited in the european literature, and when they are, their names are changed or several writers are lumped together as one).

i know many of us were interested in the alchemy program couldn’t join us this year for a variety of reasons, so i will make more carousels and videos about these topics if you’re interested, and that way you can follow along with us in a more casual way during your social media downtime 🫶🏼

also, have you been to the prague alchemie museum? i’ve never been, but prague has been on my travel list for a while.

it wasn’t easy creating this program while pregnant, nor while pregnant during a heatwave, nor while pregnant during a heatwave while our beautiful homeland falls apart and gets passed around in the hands of tyrants like a hot potato. but we did it. and in doing it we reminded ourselves that life, creativity, humanity continues to thrive, no matter how hard these systems try to break our spirits.

this program is my offering to the world, but it is also a love letter to our country, to the mountain that has always been there for us to find refuge and sanctuary. every lesson was filmed in a different spot in the mountain, with its gorgeous views and flowing rivers and ancient memory, a memory that has survived despite everything we and our ancestors have been through. i can’t wait to show you more of it, to film more things in more of its hidden paradises, and to one day invite you to physically experience its magic for yourself. it is truly one of the best kept secrets of the world 🫶🏼

you can thank our director for all the beautiful videography and finding us the perfect locations, for the gorgeous outfits and makeup despite all my objections and attempts to “keep things simple” (i.e. boring lol), for being the perfect assistant director, and my baby brother for being our one man production team, keeping us hydrated, driving us around, and making sure i was always smiling 🥹

love you guys 🫶🏼 and so excited for all the magic we’re going to make in the future 🪄
