Psychotherapy In The City

Psychotherapy In The City Making Sense Together: Individual & Couple Psychotherapist. Registered Psychotherapist, Relationship Expert & Life Coach. Everyone’s story is different.

Making Sense Together: Individual Counselling
I work with people on understanding themselves, being more self aware and their relationship with others. I do this by working with my clients in discovering patterns, understanding their organizing principals and themselves with others. People come to see me for many reasons. Some might be feeling stuck, dealing with a tough moment in their life and n

eed someone to listen to them and help make sense of what is happening for them. Everyone's story is different. I can help. Some of the areas of my work:
Depression & Anxiety
Addictions
Relationship Counseling
Unresolved Childhood Issues
Self Worth Issues (inner and outer self image)
Mental Health Concerns
Career and/or Big life Changes
First Time Partent Anxieties
Infertility Issues
LGBT Issues
Loss & Grief

Working With Couples to Building a Stronger Connection: Working with couples is about understanding both individuals and how they come together. My job is to help you navigate through your relationship and help you both feel more connected throughout communication and intimacy. Parent Counselling: A deeper self-understanding can help you raise children to thrive. Parent Therapy is a good practice to understand your own experiences and feelings around life and parenting and how this may impact your child. For expecting parents as well.

Telling your therapist you're having suicidal thoughts can feel terrifying. Will they panic? Send you to the hospital? Look at you differently?

The truth is, sharing these thoughts is often one of the most important steps you can take toward getting real support. Your therapist's office is meant to be a place where nothing is too heavy to say out loud.

There might be more to what you’re feeling.

Maybe it’s replaying conversations and running through every possible outcome before you can rest.

Maybe it’s knowing you’re allowed to say no and still feeling guilty when you do.

Maybe it’s understanding exactly what you need to change, and still not being able to do it.

These aren’t separate problems. They’re often the same nervous system trying to protect you in ways that no longer fit.

That’s the kind of pattern we like to slow down and look at together in therapy.

Motherhood changes you in ways no one can fully prepare you for. 🤍

The exhaustion. The identity shifts. The changes in your relationships. The moments of joy alongside moments of overwhelm, uncertainty, or feeling like you’ve lost touch with yourself.

The Motherhood Shift is a gentle guide to the emotional reality of life after baby, created to help mothers understand what they’re experiencing, feel less alone, and reconnect with themselves along the way.

Inside, you’ll find thoughtful reflections, gentle exercises, and compassionate guidance around:
✨ identity and the transition into motherhood
✨ exhaustion and nervous system overload
✨ postpartum emotional wellbeing
✨ birth experiences that leave an emotional mark
✨ relationships and connection after baby

This isn’t a guide to doing motherhood “right.”

It’s a guide to understanding yourself during one of life’s biggest transitions.

Whether you’re preparing for motherhood, newly postpartum, or somewhere further along in the journey, you deserve support, understanding, and space to be human. 🌿

Maybe the question isn’t only, “How can I get more rest?”

Sometimes, a more important question is:

What am I constantly recovering from?
What keeps requiring more from me than I actually have available?
Where am I functioning from obligation instead of capacity?
What have I stopped making room for because I’m too depleted?

The goal isn’t to become better at tolerating a life that exhausts you.

Sometimes, the work is learning what needs to change:
a boundary,
an expectation,
a workload,
a pattern,
the pressure you put on yourself,
or the belief that you have to keep going simply because you still can.

You don’t have to wait until you completely fall apart to take your exhaustion seriously.

“I’m still managing” can be true.

And so can:
“I shouldn’t have to feel like this all the time.”

Maybe that’s worth listening to. 🤍

We spend a lot of time talking about mental health, relationships, boundaries, and all the big things in life… but today, we’re keeping it a little lighter.

Because behind the therapists, the work, and the clinical conversations are just Clarinda and Maria, two people with very different answers to the important questions. 😂

A little peek behind the scenes at the personalities that make Psychotherapy In The City what it is. ✨

Now we want to hear from you! Share your answers to each one in the comments. We’d love to get to know you, too.

Thinking about starting therapy? Your first session with Darya is completely free.✨

Darya is an Intern Therapist who believes therapy is, at its heart, about relationships—creating a space where you can feel understood, be fully yourself, and explore the parts of life that can be difficult to put into words. Her approach is warm, genuine, curious, compassionate, and completely judgment-free.

With a personal understanding of navigating different cultural worlds, Darya brings a culturally informed perspective to her work. She’s especially interested in anxiety, relationships, identity, self-worth, and life transitions, including those moments when we feel caught between different expectations, identities, or versions of ourselves.

We love Darya’s belief that you don’t have to have everything figured out before starting therapy, you can start exactly where you are. 🌿

Darya is currently accepting new clients for individual therapy, available online and in person in Toronto, with an intern rate of $80/session.

Welcome to the team, Darya! We’re so happy you’re here.
