2017 Fall Update

Construction Progress

ALLAH AKBAR WA LILLAH HAMD, CONCURRING WITH THE BLESSED DAYS OF HAJJ AND EID AL-ADHA 1438 – 2017 THE DEVELOPMENT WORK AT DARUL BARZAKH CEMETERY GARDEN HAS BEEN GOING IN FULL SPEED. IT IS EXPECTED TO BE COMPLETED ON OR BEFORE THE END OF OCTOBER IN-SHA-ALLAH.

ONCE THE PLOTS HAVE BEEN NUMBERED AND THE MANDATORY LICENSING DOCUMENTATION SUBMITTED AND APPROVED BY THE APPLICABLE AUTHORITIES, DEED CERTIFICATES WILL BE ISSUED AND THE BURIAL GROUNDS BE READY IN-SHA-ALLAH.

The Long Awaited Permit for Development of the MGCC's First Project Darul Barzakh, Richmond Hill, ON was recieved in April 2017 from the Town of Richmond Hill.

Urgent Reminder from MGCC

Based on reliable demographic statistics, the Muslim population in Greater Toronto Area (GTA) will pass the 800,000.00 mark in only 16 years from today. Muslims here will have to own and operate 4 sizable cemeteries in order to provide proper burial space at affordable costs.

At present, the Muslims in GTA access multi faith cemeteries for burial at high costs. These cemeteries are owned and operated by for-profit business corporations. The going rate for a cemetery plot is anywhere between $2,000.00 - $3000.00; this is expected to soar to $4,000 - $6000.00 within five years. In addition to this, there are costs for ground service; bathing, shrouding, casket and transportation raising the cost of a plain Muslim burial today to more than $4,000, plus $2000.00 - $3000.00 for a flat bronze commemorative inscription. Based on a 10% increase every year, the overall cost of a Muslim funeral will soar to $10,000.00 by the year 2030.

A simple calculation shows that with the Muslim Population in the GTA at slightly over 300,000 and the yearly death numbers 350. Muslims spend $1,400,000 on burials. If the demographic statistics are right, the death number of Muslims in the GTA will double by 2030 and the expected costs of all funerals will surpass $7,000,000.00 each year. From today until the year 2030, the average yearly spending will come to $4,000,000. This multiplied by 16 years; Muslim funerals costs will pass $60,000,000.00. If only 50% of burials will have Bronze Markers at $3000 each, we will have to add another $16,000,000.

MGCC, with your help, intends to own cemeteries and provide graves for Muslims at half the prevailing cost and keep the money in the Muslim economy, these objectives may sound to some as dream talk, but when new lands for cemeteries will be in a dire shortage and the natural burial will be replaced by cremation, vaulting and columbarium, today’s unfulfilled dreams will turn to nightmares in the near future. Are you too young to reserve a place at “Darul Barzakh” for under $900.00? Then start saving now for your old-age grave purchase if you could find one near Toronto.

The present Muslim generation naively failed to look ahead; MGCC will correct that, InshaAllah.

Ibn Umar (RA) relates that someone asked Rasulullah (SWS): "Who is the wisest and most prudent of men, O Rasulullah (SWS)?"

He replied: "He who keeps death frequently in his remembrance and remains ever engaged in preparations for meeting his death, it is such people indeed who are granted honour in this life and who will be honoured in Akhirah."
