Three bites of mac and cheese off someone else's plate. That was lunch. 🥘

That's not a failure. Nobody sits you down before you have a baby and explains that feeding yourself becomes the hardest meal of the day to plan.

Melissa Cosentino, our Certified Nutritional Practitioner, meets new moms exactly where they're at, every time.

On September 11th, she's teaching a free 30 minute session for moms who are running on empty and know food is part of the answer, even if they don't know where to start yet.

She'll walk through:

🍋 What to eat while you're still healing
🍌 Real swaps for the days you're eating standing up
🥨 An easy-to-make snack list you can actually use that same afternoon.

Comment NOURISH and I'll send the link straight over, no extra steps.

“Can’t we just test to see if I’m in perimenopause?”

Dr. Margot Lattanzi, ND explains why blood work can’t be used as a definitive test for perimenopause but why it might still be important as part of the overall discussion.

Save this video so you can have a better discussion with your menopause informed health practitioner as you try to figure out your symptoms.

The best time to fix back to school anxiety is right now, while it's still August.

By the time the backpacks are unpacked and the first day photos are taken, you want your kid's sleep and blood sugar already dialed in, not something you're scrambling to catch up on in week two.

Dr. Margot, our naturopathic doctor, sees the same pattern every fall. A kid who was easygoing all summer starts crying over things that wouldn't have bothered them in July, especially the ones walking into something new this year, a different school or a different teacher.

Most of it comes down to a few physical things you can start shifting this week, starting with what's in the breakfast bowl and whether the day has any real decompress time built in.

Dr. Margot wrote up five of the strategies she uses again and again with her own patients. The full list is live on the blog now, link in bio. Start this week and September has a much better shot at going smoothly.

If the anxiety looks bigger than a few tweaks at home can handle, she's taking discovery calls right now too.

We know people love a good health hack…but which ones actually love the needle versus which ones waste your time and energy can be hard to tease out.

Since we know perimenopause is a time when women can feel a little desperate for something that actually works, we asked Dr. Margot ND • West Toronto Naturopath - Hormones & Fatigue which health hack ACTUALLY have made a difference in her clinical practice.

Her answer might surprise you 😉

Changing your health is hard. I wish we were more honest about that.

Anyone who has ever been brave enough to do the work of real health change knows it takes effort, time, money and sometimes even a heart to heart with your core values and beliefs.

That's not a warning, it's what to expect.

But in a world of glossy influencer, Pinterest highlights we've made it exceptionally easy to feel less than along the way and more comfortable to simply stay the same.

Here's the thing though about expecting something to be hard. It automatically makes it easier. Expecting it is what lets you stay in the hard part instead of quitting the moment it stops feeling comfortable.

And that friends is the difference between where you are and where you want to go.

You cut carbs for two weeks straight and felt worse, not better. Foggy all morning, snapping at people over nothing, staring into the fridge at 9pm looking for anything with sugar in it.

That’s not a willpower problem. That’s your body running on empty.

Carbs were never the issue. The ones you were eating were.

Refined carbs, think white flour, packaged snacks, the candy at the checkout line, hit your blood sugar like a shot of espresso and drop you just as hard. Whole food carbs, think oats, sweet potato, fruit, anything that grew out of the earth, burn slow and keep you steady for hours.

That’s the exact breakdown our new nutritionist Melissa gives in this video.

Melissa is our Certified Nutritional Practitioner. She’s in clinic twice a month, and she will not tell you to cut carbs. She’ll tell you which ones are working against you and why.

Comment CARBS and we’ll send you the link to book your complimentary consult with her.

Watch this before you swear off bread again.
