ADHD and perimenopause is a conversation we NEED to be having.
A 2025 study found:
🔥 people with ADHD tend to have peak perimenopause symptoms a full DECADE younger than those without ADHD - with symptoms peaking between 35-39 years of age
👏👏 No - you are NOT too young to be in perimenopause 👏👏
🔥 people with ADHD have a higher burden of symptoms - more symptoms overall and more SEVERE symptoms as well
🔥 And those symptoms are impacting multiple systems - not just cognitive symptoms like focus and concentration, but also physical symptoms like hot flashes, headaches, and body pain, emotional symptoms like mood swings, depression and anxiety.
Health care needs to do better for people experiencing both ADHD and perimenopause. And it starts with talking about this more.
