We're working across the province to increase access to the health services we need to have the sex we want.

The Gay Men’s Sexual Health Alliance (GMSH) champions the health of 2GBTQ+ men in Ontario. We lead the development of cutting-edge sexual health promotion resources and collaborate with HIV service organizations and other service providers in Ontario to ensure 2GBTQ+ men have the information, supports and services they need to have the sex they want.

In this video, 𝐉𝐚𝐝𝐚 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐝𝐚 𝐇𝐮𝐝𝐬𝐨𝐧 asks guys about their cruising tips and the importance of the bathhouse as gay spaces 🧼 It’s no accident we’re standing right outside the iconic Steamworks Toronto as well 😘

Today is International Overdose Awareness Day.

Gay, bi, q***r and other guys who like guys have been deeply affected by the toxic drug supply. Too many of our brothers, friends, lovers and community members have been lost to drug poisoning and overdose.

This year’s theme — 25 Years On. Still Needed. — is a reminder of why this day continues to matter.

Many overdose deaths are preventable when the people nearby know how to recognize what is happening and how to respond.

Knowing the signs. Carrying naloxone. Acting quickly. Checking in on each other. Talking openly about what we’re taking. These are practical skills — and acts of collective care — that can save lives.

The Church Street pedestrian pilot project ended last week but the feedback has been a rousing success! 🌈

GMSH was proud to be part of this community effort (our garden boxes are still on the sidewalk and they are as lush as the first day we planted them!) 🌱

We held a beach day event on August 1 to commemorate the first gay day picnic at Hanlan’s Point, which would eventually transform into Pride celebrations 🌞🌴🌊

Canada’s Drag Race All-Star 𝐉𝐚𝐝𝐚 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐝𝐚 𝐇𝐮𝐝𝐬𝐨𝐧 was live on location as our street correspondent to talk to cute fellas passing by and promote our new campaign “If No One Ever Told You, We Will” 💕

Over the weekend a bunch of local health orgs held a big outreach and social event at Hanlan’s Point and GMSH was there to provide support! The weather managed to hold out for most of the day and it was sunny skies and good vibes 😎

Big thanks to Jevonie from CAYR Community Connections for leading this project as well as Eric from our team, Ricardo from CSSP - CGHH and Julio Gómez for DJing all day! We also had a really fantastic team of community volunteers from Black CAP and friends who showed up to help, hang out and have a good time.

“THE FACE OF AIDS: One Year In The Epidemic,” August 10, 1987.

39 years ago on this day, Newsweek published a photographic “journal of a single plague year,” which featured imagery of the devastating impact of the AIDS epidemic. The cover featured photos of 24 Americans of diverse ages, races, ethnicities, gender identities, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

All of those pictured died of HIV/AIDS-related illness in 1987.

Gina M. Bright, author and oncology nurse working with AIDS patients, said that the Newsweek cover and article showed that “the disease knew no boundaries, making it seem like it really was a plague.”

By the end of 1987, nearly 41,000 people in America had died of HIV/AIDS-related illness.

The Church Street Beach day community event yesterday was a huge success 😎🌴🌊 with the weather holding out and giving us a gorgeous sunny day☀️We brought in real grass sod, sandboxes, an inflatable pool and refreshments! ✨

This daytime picnic and party commemorated the Gay Day Picnic, which is Canada’s first ever LGBTQ+ Pride gathering. It took place on August 1, 1971 🌈

GMSH had an outreach booth set up alongside WHIWH Community Health Centre conducting community surveys and handing out health promotional items designed by Tim Singleton GRRRL Spells ☾ Spooky Q***r Apparel & Art and Christopher Rouleau to promote our new campaign 🎨🖌️

And last but not least, we had Canada’s Drag Race star 𝐉𝐚𝐝𝐚 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐝𝐚 𝐇𝐮𝐝𝐬𝐨𝐧 doing street interviews: if you look closely you’ll catch Jonah Wheeler who will appear later in our video 🤩

This event wouldn’t have been possible without the work of Church-Wellesley Village Friends of Hanlan's (Point Beach) the City of Toronto , alongside project leads Rodney and Francesca Policarpio

Thanks to everyone who showed up and brought lawn chairs, towels, snacks and speedos! Can’t wait until next year! 🗓️

“If you’re afraid to get tested, I would say just do it. The truth is gonna set you free. It’s about knowing. And once you know, you can do something about it.”

June 27 is National HIV Testing Day and we thought this little clip from our interview with Daniel 黄 Daniel is worth another share today!

Daniel is 50 years old and has been living with HIV for 29 years. He had some words of support for folks who are newly diagnosed:

“It’s going to be okay. It doesn’t change anything about who you are. It does not define who you are. It’s a part of who you are now, and you just need to be mindful of it. And that’s it.”
