As Toronto hosts the FIFA World Cup from June 12 to July 2, 2026, we want to ensure you have a plan in place for your prenatal appointments and labour care. Our clinic at 340 College Street and our partner hospitals will be affected by road closures and heavy traffic.

Please review the following guide to help you access care safely.

🏥 Clinic Appointments (340 College St.)
Our clinic is located on the edge of the busiest traffic zones.
* Travel Time: Please double your estimated travel time for all appointments.
* Road Closures: Expect gridlock on College St. and Spadina Ave. Traffic may be diverted into the Kensington Market side streets, making driving difficult.
* Elevator Delays: If the building’s elevator maintenance is still ongoing during June, please allow an extra 10–15 minutes to get up to Suite 450, as the lobby will be busier than usual.
* Recommendation: If possible, take the TTC (506 College or 510 Spadina) to avoid parking challenges.

🚑 Urgent Care & Labour
St. Joseph’s Health Centre (Important Warning)
St. Joe’s is located at 30 The Queensway, which is directly west of the World Cup Stadium (Exhibition Place).
* The Risk: Lake Shore Blvd and the Gardiner Expressway may be closed or severely jammed on match days.
* The Plan: If you are planning a birth at St. Joe’s, do not rely on Lake Shore Blvd. Plan your route via The Queensway or northern parallel streets. Leave for the hospital earlier than you normally would.

Toronto Birth Centre (TBC)
Located at Dundas & Parliament, the TBC is further from the stadium but will still be affected by general downtown congestion. Plan for delays on Dundas St. East.

🏠 Home Births
If you are planning a home birth:
* Midwife Parking: Please reserve a parking spot for your midwife (e.g., your own driveway or a visitor pass) to ensure we can reach you quickly without circling for street parking.

⚽️Key Match Dates to Watch (Heavy Traffic):
June 12, 17, 20, 23, 26, and July 2.

Follow the lyrics to see our 2025 picnic come to life.

We can’t wait to see our new and past clients in oir picnic this year. We don’t have a date yet, but it happens usually in September of each year.

Caring for those who are pregnant from beginning until this newborn snuggle is one of the best things us midwives get to experience. Our midwife Kyla here is proof of that.

Is there anything sweeter than holding a set of healthy twins? Our midwife Mildri here is proof of this. We recently celebrated this beautiful double arrival, and it was a perfect reminder that sometimes it truly takes a village.

In Ontario, twin pregnancies are considered high-risk, which means primary care must transfer to an Obstetrician (OB) to ensure the safest possible outcome.

However, a transfer of care doesn’t always mean your midwife says goodbye. Every case is unique! Depending on the situation, we can often remain involved, providing supportive care throughout labour alongside the OB team.

Furthermore, once these little ones have arrived safely and if everyone is healthy, care can often transfer back to Kensington Midwives. We take enormous pride in offering our full 6 weeks of postpartum and newborn care to many twin families, supporting them as they navigate the beautiful chaos of two newborns!

We are so grateful to work within a collaborative healthcare system that prioritizes the health of parent and baby above all else. Welcome to the world, little ones!
