☀️ Men, do you know the symptoms of summer depression? ☀️

Summer is often pictured as constant sunshine, energy, and happiness. For many people, it doesn’t feel that way. If you’ve been feeling low, unmotivated, restless, or just “off,” you’re not doing anything wrong. You may be experiencing summer Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).

It’s a real thing.

Sometimes the shift in routine, heat, social pressures, or feeling like you should be happy can actually make things feel heavier.

Are you feeling more angry or agitated? Are you drinking more?

June and July are powerful collective emotional months as the school year winds down and a large population of teachers and students prepare and move into a new daily routine.

Remember, it is not an easy time, and the feelings may not all be yours. Perspective is important!

If you are feeling out of sorts, here are a few self-care tips:

*Stay hydrated
*Get regular sleep
*Take quiet time to reset
*Don’t overbook yourself

You don’t have to push through it alone or pretend everything is fine. Sometimes just naming what’s going on is the first step toward feeling better. 💛

Give Yourself Permission to Rest

Men's Mental Health Month 💙

Being busy all the time isn't a badge of honour. Rest is an important part of staying mentally healthy.

😴 Mental Health Tip:
Schedule 15 minutes of intentional downtime today to explore what rest feels like.

Read a book.
Sit outside.
Listen to music.
Practice deep breathing.
Enjoy a quiet cup of coffee or tea.

Taking a break isn't unproductive. A pause allows intuition and creativity to flow. It allows you to recharge and show up present and grounded to the people and things that matter.

💙 You deserve the same care and support that you give to others.

Remember, you can always reach out to book a consultation with us: https://www.cpebpsychotherapy.ca/contact

Move Your Body, Boost Your Mood

Men's Mental Health Month 💙

Mental health isn't only about what's happening in your mind; your body plays a role too!

🚶 Mental Health Tip:
Take a 10-minute walk today. Walking can help reduce stress, improve mood, and clear your mind.

You don't need a gym membership or intense workout:
✅ Walk around the block
✅ Take the stairs
✅ Walk with a friend
✅ Explore a local park

Every step counts toward better mental well-being.

Strength in Talking

Men's Mental Health Month 💙

Many men are taught to "tough it out" and handle challenges alone. But strength isn't about carrying everything by yourself—it's knowing when to reach out.

🛠️ Mental Health Tip:
Check in with one trusted person this week. A friend, family member, colleague, or neighbour. A simple conversation can reduce stress and remind you that you're not alone.

Air is one of nature's great healers. When a broken arm is placed in a cast, the cast eventually comes off so that fresh air, movement, and exercise can help complete the healing process.

Our emotions are much the same. When feelings are kept bottled up, they can linger, grow, and become heavier over time. Talking about our thoughts and emotions gives them "air"—allowing them to be acknowledged, processed, and released. Sharing what we're carrying can be an important step toward healing and well-being.

📱 Send a text.
📞 Make a call.
☕ Meet for coffee.

Small connections can make a big difference.

How we care for our environment mirrors how we care for ourselves and our mental well-being.

Taking proactive steps to support the environment sends a powerful, positive message to your unconscious that you are capable of creating meaningful change. In caring for the world around you, you are also nurturing your own inner landscape.

Some easy steps:
Garden - plant some pollinators!
Create bug hotels - great kid activity!
Join in Earth Day events - or create your own!

A little love and attention have an exponential effect and return for Mother Earth and ourselves!

Stanley Keleman stated that working somatically with people reveals the interconnection of dream and embodiment.
He states that dreams are direct statements of our deep somatic reality, and they demand attention from our conscious brain/self to continue the body's emotional growth.
