🚨 Exciting research shows how a “digital lung” could transform transplant care and speed up therapy development 👏

🚨 alert!

Researchers at the Toronto Lung Transplant Program at UHN’s Ajmera Transplant Centre have successfully created a digital twin of the human lung—a virtual model built using data from donor organs assessed outside the body.

By integrating physiology, imaging, and molecular data, this “digital lung” can accurately simulate lung function and predict treatment outcomes.

This research, led by Dr. Shaf Keshavjee, Dr. Andrew Sage, and Xuanzi Zhou, shows the potential of digital twins to transform medical research and accelerate therapy development.
