Think all stretching is the same? Think again!

Different techniques serve different purposes—and using the wrong one at the wrong time can actually hurt your performance.

Here’s your quick guide:

🔵 Static Stretching – Hold and breathe. Best for post-workout or rehab to improve flexibility.

🟢 Dynamic Stretching – Controlled movement. Perfect for warm-ups before sport.

🔴 Ballistic Stretching – Bouncing movements. Advanced athletes only—requires strength and control.

🟣 PNF Stretching – Contract, relax, stretch deeper. A physio favourite for breaking through mobility plateaus.

The big takeaway?

❌ Long static stretches before explosive activity can temporarily reduce power.

✅ Dynamic stretches before sport = better readiness.

Physiotherapist Kathy Mileski explains when to use each type and why “just stretch more” isn’t always the answer.

He didn’t let a stroke stop him. He just switched hands. 🏓💙

For our campaign, meet George. After a stroke left him with spasticity in his dominant left hand, he couldn’t use it the way he used to.

But George refused to sit on the sidelines.

With the help of OT Ana Gollega, he’s been working hard in hand therapy to regain mobility and control. Splints, exercises, repetition—he’s putting in the work. 🧤

And in the meantime? He taught himself to play pickleball with his right hand. 🏓

His physiotherapist also built him a gym program to keep his body strong and active as he ages. Because giving up wasn’t an option.

This is what is all about. Adapt. Persevere. Keep playing. 🎾💪

Thank you, George, for showing us what resilience really looks like.

From walker to 4:30 AM gym sessions. 💪🌅

For our campaign, meet Theresa. After losing half her body weight, she came to Propel Peterborough needing to relearn how to walk without a walker.

With Dave Friesen and the team, she didn’t just walk again—she started working out. Hesitantly joined a gym. And now? She wakes up at 4:30 AM every day to hit the gym with her crew. 🏋️‍♀️👯‍♀️

She worked with Christine on pelvic floor strength and nutrition. She reversed her diabetes. Lowered her blood pressure. Took her life back.
Now she’s kayaking 🚣‍♀️ riding her bike 🚲 and enjoying summer days she thought were behind her. ☀️

Theresa’s before and after isn’t just physical—it’s everything.
This is what 10 years of Propel looks like. Real people. Real comebacks. 💙

Not all physiotherapists are the same. Here’s how to choose wisely. 🏥💡

You’ve booked a physiotherapy appointment. But how do you know if you’ve found the right therapist for YOU?

The clinical skills matter, but so does the relationship. A great physiotherapist doesn’t just treat your injury—they partner with you.

5 non-negotiables to look for:

✅ Licensed & registered – In Ontario, check the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario database.
✅ Uses evidence-based practice – They explain why a treatment works, not just “because.”
✅ Practices patient-centered care – Your goals, schedule, and values guide the plan.
✅ Communicates clearly & honestly – No jargon. No guessing. No lies.
✅ Demonstrates professionalism – Respect, boundaries, and informed consent always.

Red flag? You leave an appointment feeling like you weren’t seen as a human being.

Green light? You feel heard, empowered, and part of the decision-making process.

📖 Read our full guide (link in bio) to learn how to find a physio who truly supports your journey.
