Alexis Lodge Retirement Residences

Alexis Lodge Retirement Residences Alexis Lodge is a retirement home that offers dementia care, continence care, palliative care, and g There is quite a bit of flexibility in our daily schedule.

Alexis Lodge is a retirement home located in two houses in Toronto. Our goal is to create a sense of comfort and familiarity for our residents that traditional retirement homes cannot provide. Alexis Lodge offers a non-medical program of familiar activities tailored to the individual. The staff members are non-uniformed support workers who are familiar with each resident’s history and personality.

The resident is included in the daily routines of the home as much as possible. For example, a resident who finds food preparation enjoyable and familiar, will be encouraged to participate in the kitchen, under safe supervision. If a resident needs to sleep a little longer in the morning, there will still be a fresh, piping hot breakfast waiting for them when they get up.

At Alexis Lodge Home, one thing is certain we love to dance!
Whether it’s a favorite song, a familiar rhythm, or simply a reason to smile, dancing brings everyone together. From our amazing residents to our dedicated caregivers, every step is filled with joy, laughter, and connection.
Because life is better when you dance through it. ✨

Our residents took on a fun challenge picking between different options and sharing their preferences.
Beyond the laughs, it encourages decision-making, self-expression, and keeps the mind actively engaged.
Because every choice matters and every voice deserves to be heard.

Our residents stacked cups to reach a hidden ball, building focus, coordination, and problem-solving with every move.
Simple activities like these do more than pass time . They stimulate the mind, encourage confidence, and create meaningful moments.

Of course we joined the challenge… we’re the caregivers 😄💙
Of course we know everyone’s routine by heart
Of course we celebrate the little wins
Of course we bring the energy (and the patience!) every day
Just a fun moment with the team but it’s always rooted in care, connection, and showing up with a smile.

What an unforgettable day 🌹✨

Our 2nd Annual Rose Ball was more than a gala it was a powerful reminder of what community, compassion, and purpose can achieve together. From the inspiring conversations to the beautiful moments shared, every detail reflected the love and dedication poured into supporting dementia awareness in Black and racialized communities.

To everyone who attended, sponsored, volunteered, donated, and supported us in any way thank you. Because of you, we are able to continue educating, advocating, and creating safe spaces for families affected by dementia.

Together, we are breaking stigma, building awareness, and making a lasting impact one conversation at a time. 💜

Here’s to growing the village and creating even more change in the years ahead.

It can be caused by conditions like Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia, and other changes that affect how the brain functions over time.
Understanding the causes helps us respond with awareness, not assumptions and care with intention, not confusion.
Because behind every diagnosis is a story that deserves patience and support.

Listening to our residents share what they love is one of the best parts of our day. Whether it’s a passion they’ve held for decades or a new interest they’ve discovered here, these moments of sharing help us provide “big care” that is truly tailored to the individual.

There’s nothing more reassuring than knowing your loved one is in a place where they are seen, supported, and genuinely cared for.
We’re grateful for the trust families place in us and for every kind word shared about the care, attention, and environment we provide.

Our residents took on a simple challenge matching each ball to its correct color. What looks playful is actually purposeful: engaging visual recognition, sharpening attention, and encouraging quick decision-making.
It’s light, it’s interactive, and it keeps the mind actively involved without pressure.
Learning, focus, and fun all in one moment.

Moments may blur, names may fade, and time may feel unfamiliar but emotions remain real. In their world, a simple touch can feel like safety, a familiar song can bring clarity, and kindness speaks louder than memory ever could.
Understanding what they feel, not just what they forget, changes everything.
