Do you wear contact lenses? Don't forget to take off your contact lenses before swimming this summer. Wearing contact lenses while swimming, showering, or bathing, can trap harmful bacteria between the contact lens and your cornea. Don't risk your vision while enjoying your summer activities!

The College's public register is a useful resource that verifies that an optometrist is qualified and registered to practise. We encourage the public to use the register to verify an optometrist's status and ensure they are in good hands before visiting as a patient. Find an optometrist here:

There are a variety of risk factors that contribute to dry eye condition such as age, gender, and diet. Tear production decreases with age. Hormonal changes, and eating a diet low in vitamin A, can also contribute to dry eye symptoms. Speak with your optometrist if you are experiencing eye discomfort or you suspect that you may have dry eye condition.
