Even though the Top Choice Awards Survey cannot possibly offer a comprehensive evaluation or comparison of service providers in the city (and there are many great providers) - it's nevertheless nice to learn that we've been nominated for "Top Choice Physiotherapy Clinic of 2021 in Toronto" 🙂

It's ! 🌏💙 A day to reimagine a better future for every child - including our lymphie kids.

We can help imagine a better world for kids with lymphedema by supporting pediatric lymphedema organizations like Brylan’s Feat Foundation and family support groups like L-W-O community 4 families, as well as legislation like the Lymphedema Treatment Act. We can also educate ourselves and others through resources like this comprehensive guide by Toronto Physiotherapy (https://torontophysiotherapy.ca/comprehensive-guide-lymphedema-in-children/).

Together, we can spread awareness of pediatric lymphedema and elevate the lives of lymphie kids the world over!

✨Rethink Real Talk: Ask A Pelvic Floor Specialist ✨⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Since starting breast cancer treatment have you been experiencing more: ⁣
• Urinary problems, like UTIs and bladder infections? ⁣
• Vaginal dryness and painful s*x? ⁣
• General pelvic pain and tightness? ⁣
⁣
The thing is, you’re not alone. In fact, 50 to 70% of people will experience issues like these after starting treatment. ⁣
⁣
Despite this being such a common concern, it’s a topic that is not often addressed in general care. ⁣
⁣
That’s why for this month's Rethink Real Talk, we’ve recruited Katie Hauck, a registered physiotherapist with a special interest in the impact of cancer treatment on pelvic health. She comes to us from Toronto Physiotherapy and knows a thing or two on how common cancer treatments can impact one’s bladder, bowel and s*xual health. Lucky for us, Katie is passionate about sharing her knowledge and delving into traditionally uncomfortable yet significant health topics.* ⁣
⁣
Interested in tuning in to this free conversation? We'll be gathering next Thursday, November 19th at 7pm EST via Zoom.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⠀⁣⁣⁣
⁣
Head to the link below to learn more and RSVP because spaces are limited and there's only a few left! Once you RSVP, we'll send you the secret link! ⁣⁣⁣We hope to see you there. 💗⁣⁣⠀⁣⁣⁣

*This is not a replacement for medical advice or regular check-ins with your healthcare team (your cancer case is unique and so are you 😉).

Yes, we are fully open!

Our first week back was by every measure a great success. We had unanimously positive feedback from patients and staff alike about the new experience at our clinics now that we've put in place an extensive list of COVID-19 safety measures. A big thank you to our patients and staff for making last week such a positive and uplifting experience :)

Learn more about the safety measures we've put in place to keep our patients and staff safe: https://torontophysiotherapy.ca/COVID-19

Although we are now open and would love to see you, please do not stop by to say hello or to book an appointment in person. As part of our new safety measures, only scheduled visitors are allowed into the clinic at this time, so please call instead.

In addition to offering our regular in-person services, we also continue to offer TeleRehab (https://torontophysiotherapy.ca/online-physiotherapy-telerehab/).

Providing safe and accessible in-person care is our top priority. Learn more about our stringent COVID-19 infection control practices.

New data suggests that weakened lymphatic drainage can encourage the body to store fat. Since fat will in turn exacerbate , this finding reinforces the necessity of good lymphedema self-management practices.

Does lymphedema cause weight gain? New data says weak lymphatic drainage tells adipose cells to store fat - a problem if you have lymphedema.

Many local businesses who have been asked to close their doors due to COVID-19 will never reopen again unless the government legislates rent relief. Commercial leases are very expensive in Toronto, and unlike residential leases, all the legal power is in the hands of the landlords. We already know of multiple businesses in our area that could not make rent and have been forced to permanently close. Without a plan in place many more businesses will follow.
